The foreigner wasimpressed and told a pedestrian on the road that hewanted to see the leader of the country. The foreignerwas brought to the leader who was looking like a sage and wasstaying in a simple house. The foreigner found the leaderwriting something in the light of an oil lamp on his right side. “Your
work with me is official or personal?”, asked the leader. “I have lot of personal questions foryou to answer” replied the foreigner. The leader stopped his writing, extinguished the lampon his right side and lighted the lamp on his left side. “Yes, Please!”, he told the foreigner.The foreigner looked confused. “Before I ask you anything else, please tell me why youlighted the left side lamp and extinguished the right side one, even if both the lamps cangive the same illumination?” “Oh! It is so simple”, replied the leader, “You told me that yourwork is personal. I did not want to use the lamp provided by my government for officialpurpose for the personal work. I put my own oil in the lamp on the left side.” “I have no morequestions. If the leader of this country has so much discipline, the people have to bedisciplined”, said the foreigner, bowed before the leader and left with a feel of totalsatisfaction.

Title: Grabbing Crane Modernization
Frequent problems in grabbing cranes are:�The original system in grab control uses a differential limit switch to open/close
positions and these positions cannot be changed. As this system is purelymechanical, setting the position is a tedious process. The position of the switchcan be disturbed over multiple operations and to be reset again
�Power and Rotor resistance contactors often required to change due to frequentoperations
�Slip ring, carbon brushes maintenance�Arching, bigger size and bulkiness of motor puts extra load on trolley and bridge�Frequent problems in slip ring motors due to single phasing�Burning of resistor box�Regular maintenance of current carrying contacts of contactor due to frequent

The new generation of control and monitoring system, developed by Amtech Electronics (India) Ltd, integrates the operation of EOT cranewith four rope grab using variable frequency drive and crane controller.Grabbing crane used to handle the powder material, has four ropes which controls hoisting and grabbing operation. Synchronization of thisoperation was carried out by differential gearbox. Being mechanical synchronization, it is prone to backlash and takes lot of time to re-synchronize. Amtech has developed and successfully installed automation system for the grabbing crane. Automation system controls thesynchronization of whole crane operation like Cross Travel, Long Travel, Hoisting, Grabbing and safety interlocks. Automation system isusing properly sized variable frequency drive for existing slip ring motor or new induction motor to control the operation. PLC system takescare of Speed control, Thruster control, Synchronization and Various interlocks.
Grab crane is a type of crane used in Cement, Metal industry, Ports etc. for handlingof material in powder form. The grab mechanism is just like two jaws hinged at mid-point, used to grab the material. This mechanism can be operated by either hydraulicor electrical system. In Hydraulic system the grab jaws are operated by hydrauliccylinders. In case of electrical system, there are two rope-end-drum assemblies onthe crab trolley. The grab operation is carried out by one of the rope-end-drumassembly used to hoist the grab which in turn, gets driven by electrical motor. Themotors are controlled by drive to allow multiple speed operations.

most stringent global safety standards andUL 61800-5-1 CSA C22.2 No. 274-
17 IEC 61800-5-1. These standards are new, harmonized with and related to
safety requirements in terms of electrical, thermal and energy.
The whole range including 400V and 600V of has beenAxpert-Eazy+ Series
certified by internationally recognized .CSAGroup
During the process of certification, the technical experts of fromCSA Group
Canada and India visitedAmtech. First, the product was thoroughly investigated
for the construction in line with the standard requirements and then tested for
various conditions.
Some of the critical tests are creepage & clearance, temperature rise, dielectric
withstand, overload protection, inoperative fan/blower, short circuit test, current
limiting, dc bus discharge and the most important - break down of component
test.
In break down of component test, abnormal conditions are created deliberately
and the response of the product is checked. This includes shorting critical
components of the main power circuit like one of the dc link capacitor, snubber
capacitor or shorting one or all the outputs of control power supply.
The demonstrated excellent performance during theAxpert-Eazy+ Series
testing and successfully passed the certification.
