FUN THINGS HERE, FUN THINGS THERE, FUN THINGS ARE HAPPENING EVERYWHERE AT BHCS.
ROCK YOUR SCHOOLS : BHP and BHES Hurricanes, Heroes, Doctors, Pete the Cat, Carnival
Clowns, Glow Girls, Under the Sea Creatures,
Campsites, Astronauts and Chefs were running
around our schools on September 19, 2019. It was a
day of fun and festivities for all students at BHP and
BHES. Each class was decorated and all activities
revolved around hands on learning projects. This day
was amazingly awesome! Way to go Canes!!!
BHPK VISITS AIRPORT The Ben Hill Preschool got to go visit the
Fitzgerald Airport. Children were able to see
a variety of planes and even got to watch
Mr. Will Hammond, Mr. Paul Frantz and
Mrs. Nikki Cobb, Brown Bear teacher fly a
plane. The morning was fantastic with the
children being able to see the planes, watch
one in the air and cheer on Mrs. Cobb with
the Brown Bears. Way to go Little Canes!
BEN HILL EDUCATION FOUNDATION INNOVATION GRANTS Ben Hill Education Foundation awarded 14 Innovation Grants to our teachers in
the Ben Hill County School system. We are so excited to begin these grants and
help out our teachers. Grants were presented to:
Ben Hill Primary Teachers–
Beverly Grimes, Laura
Hammond, Karen Peck, Diane
Hardin, Melissa Rathburn,
Katelyn Griffin, Keri Reese,
Tiffany Coleman, and Brittany
Hammond.
Ben Hill Middle School Teachers

Vaughn, and Rob Garber.
Fitzgerald High School College and
Career Academy Teachers– Cynthia
Hendrix and Joanie Padgett.
BEN HILL ELEMENTARY STEAM STUDENTS Ben Hill Elementary STEAM students are building
scenes from a book they read. The book is Tuck
Everlasting. The building projects are awesome.
HOT AIR BALLOONS ARE THE TOPIC FOR BHMS STEAM Mrs. Vaughn’s STEAM class is building hot air
balloons. She had the classes work in teams to
build the balloons. The balloons are build using
tissue paper, stick glue and string. The teams
got graded on the building, launching and
teamwork when it came to this project. They
did an awesome job.
SLIME OR OOBLECK IS THE LESSON AT THE BHP SMART LAB
BHES 4TH GRADE ELA ESCAPE ROOMS WITH CHARLIE AND THE
CHOCOLATE FACTORY The BHES ELA 4th grade teachers came together
to add a lot of fun for their students. They
finished reading Charlie and the Chocolate
Factory so they had escape rooms in their classes
using a packet of fun game information from the
book. The students have to finish all the packets
in teams to escape. What a fun way to
remember what you have read and apply it. Way
to ELA teachers and students in 4th Grade.
GRANDPARENTS DAY CELEBRATED AT BHPK, BHP AND BHES What a GRAND day to celebrate and eat lunch with the Grandparents at our
schools. This is always a big event for our students and Grandparents.
SHAVING CREAM AND SIGHT WORDS ~MRS. MITCHELL AT BHP
AQUAPONICS IS THE TOPIC IN MRS. VAUGHN’S CLASS AT BHMS Mrs. Vaughn’s class had a special
guest from The Raynor Company,
Jeremy Wixson, to come visit them
and explain the importance of
Aquaponics. The Raynor Company
is helping BHMS STEAM Class begin
Aquaponics in the classroom. They
visited the company last week to
learn the hands on work it takes to
make this successful.
BHMS AGRICULTURE CLASS IS LEARNING ABOUT POWER TOOLS Mr. Barnes is teaching the students in his Agriculture
class not only about plants but
also about power tools. The
students are able to wear
their safety gear and get first
hand experience running
power tools. He started with
the edger and the students
did great working around the
yard at BHMS.
SMOOTHIES TASTE TEST DAY WITH CULINARY ARTS DEPT FHSCCA The smoothies are coming along. Recipes are being reviewed, taste test are
happening to get ready to launch the Smoothies at
FHSCCA. More details coming soon….. Thanks to Anna’s
Garden for the Blueberries. They are delicious and make
the perfect smoothie.
