INTRODUCCIÓN
Estamos encantados de presentarle nuestra
compañía la cual, desde su fundación hace
más de 20 años, está dedicada a la produc-

venimos fabricando toda clase de válvulas princi-
palmente para el sector petroquímico, energético,

Three-dimensional design in Solid Works
From the very first step in the design this pro-
gramme allows us to increase the efficiency inthe size and adjustment of the various compo-nents elements that make up the valve, mak-ing it possible to check for interferences be-tween them and carry out modifications in thedesign phase.
Finite Element Calculation.
This enables us to adjust the thickness of allelements guaranteeing their perfect work-ing and allows for a reduction in raw materialcosts. We are able to guarantee working pa-
rameters, such as the cv, torque, etc.
Our designs are based on regulation Standards, afurther guarantee for our customers
Likewise, in the manufacturing phase ARFLU usesnumeric control machining centres which guaran-tee the quality of manufacture as well as precisionmachining.
After an exhaustive verification process of all the el-ements that configure the valve, it is mounted andtested hydrostatically on automated test benches.
All of this enables us to guarantee the high qualityof our valves.

1.2.1 BODY AND ENDS
The body is made of cast steel or forged steel,depending on the customers’ requirements. In
the case of normal design standards, (API-6D,EN 17292, etc.) the thickness of the body willcomply with what is indicated in these stand-ards according to the pressure rating of thevalve. Should none of these standards applyARFLU uses the regular standard EN 12516 forthe determination of minimum thickness.All our ball valves are bidirectional and can beinstalled both in vertical and horizontal posi-tion.
1.2.1 CUERPO Y EXTREMOSEl cuerpo es fabricado en acero fundido oforjado, dependiendo de los requerimien-tos del cliente. En caso de aplicar normasestándar de diseño, (API-6D, EN 17292, etc)el espesor del cuerpo cumplirá lo indicadoen estos estándares en función del ratingde presión de la válvula. INSPECCION Y ENSAYO:
The spherical sections are designed to re-duce tension under the most severe work-ing conditions.The sealing rings of the seats are carefully
machined to prevent leaks between thebody and the seat. The surface of the seatsshould be at least 1.6 AARHExtraordinary careful attention is made toensure that the body flange and the bon-net flange are parallel and perpendicularto prevent leakage problems betweenboth, except for fully welded valves inwhich case they are obviously welded.
The standard flange face has a spiral typesmooth finish 125-250 AARH. Other fin-ishes may be carried according to require-ments.
Our valves are provided with the possibil-ity of fitting auxiliary plugs or connectionsin accordance with ASME B 16.34 to allowdrainage, secondary injection lines, instru-mentation, measurements, etc.The connections from the valves to thepipes can be done using flanges or buttweld ends according to either interna-tional or national standards as the clientso requirements.

La cara de las bridas estándar tiene unacabado espiral liso tipo ”Smooth fin-ish” 125-250 AARH. Se pueden realizarotros acabados según requerimiento.Nuestras válvulas tienen previstas laposibilidad de colocar TAPÓNes o con-exiones auxiliares según ASME B 16.34para permitir drenajes, líneas de in- yección secundaría, instrumentación,mediciones, etc.Las conexiones de las válvulas a las tu-berías pueden hacerse según bridas oextremos para soldar tanto según normasinternacionales o normas expresas del cli-ente.

1.2.2 DESIGN OF FLOATING BALL VALVEWITH SOFT METAL SEATS
This design gives flexibility to the seat ring. Whenthe pressure in the line is low, the ball is pushedagainst the seat ring without deforming it. As theseat ring is flexible it can adapt to the ball, increas-ing the closure area, therefore enhancing closure atlow pressure.
When the pressure in the line increases, the ball isthrust against the seat ring.
The seat ring deforms elastically and the closing sur-face reaches its maximum limit.
When the pressure decreases once again the seatring recovers its shape.
We have a special design in which one of the seatsis replaced by a rigid ring with spring activated softclosing.
In this case the valve is unidirectional.
This design allows for a better closure in the medi-um and long term with pressure free valves.
Likewise it allows for automatic depressurisation inthe case of over pressure.
With this design we obtain a longer life of the softseats as they self-adjust depending on the wear-and-tear.
1.2.2 DISEÑO DE BOLA FLOTANTECON ASIENTOS BLANDOS
Este diseño proporciona flexibilidad al anillo deasiento. Cuando la presión en la línea es baja, la bolaes empujada contra el anillo de asiento sin defor-marlo. Como el anillo de asiento es flexible es capazadaptarse a la bola, aumentando el área de cierre,por lo que el cierre a baja presión mejora.
Cuando la presión en la línea aumenta la bola es em-pujada fuertemente contra el anillo de asiento.
El anillo de asiento es deforma elásticamente y la su-perficie de cierre alcanza su máximo.
Cuando la presión se disminuye otra vez el anillo deasiento recupera su forma.
Disponemos de un diseño especial en el que uno delos asientos es sustituido por un anillo rígido concierre blando actuado por muelles.
En este caso la válvula sería unidireccional
Este diseño permite un mejor cierre a medio y largoplazo con las válvulas sin presión.
Así mismo permite despresurizaciones automáticasen caso de sobre presiones.
Con este diseño conseguimos una mayor vida de losasientos blandos ya que se auto ajustan según sevan desgastando.

1.2.3 DESIGN OF TRUNNION BALL VALVESWITH SOFT METAL SEATS
In this design the ball is guided by the up and downstems. In this case the only possible movement forthe ball is to rotate on its stem.
To close the valve, the springs push the seat ringsagainst the ball making a perfect close. The springsare used for providing uniform pressure and guidedmovement.
This type of design is normally used for medium and
high pressure valves (600 lbs. and above) and for 10”sizes (DN-250) or more. For these cases, a floatingball design is not advisable as the pressure and/orsize will compress the ball against the seat, causingbreakage or the wedging of the ball in the seat.
1.2.3 DISEÑO DE BOLA GUIADACON ASIENTOS BLANDOS
En este diseño la bola es guiada por dos ejes. En estecaso el único movimiento posible para la bola es larotación sobre su eje.
Para realizar el cierre de la válvula los muelles. Em-pujan los anillos de asiento contra la bola proporcio-nando de esta forma un cierre perfecto. Los muellesson usados para proporcionar una presión uniforme y un desplazamiento guiado.
Esta tipo de diseño es típicamente usada para válvu-las de media y alta presión (600 lbs y superiores) ypara tamaños de 10” (DN-250) o mayores. Para estoscasos, un el diseño de bola flotante no es recomen-dable ya que la presión y/o tamaño comprimiría labola contra el asiento, produciendo una rotura delmismo o un enclavamiento de la bola en el asiento.
1.2.4 DISEÑO ANTIESTATICO
Por lo general los cierres de la empaquetadura y las juntas se realizanen materiales no conductivos como PTFE, viton, grafito, etc.En estos casos para garantizar la continuidad eléctrica se utiliza un
sistema sencillo de bola y muelle colocado en el eje de la válvula.El muelle empuja la bola, poniendo constantemente en contacto, eleje con el cuerpo, manteniéndose por lo tanto la continuidad eléctricaen todo el conjunto y evitándose también el que se produzcan chispasdebido a la electricidad estática.

1.2.4 ANTISTATIC DESIGN
In general the packing closures and the gaskets are made with nonconductive materials such as PTFE, Viton, graphite, etc.In these cases, to guarantee electric continuity, a simple system of balland spring positioned on the stem of the valve.
The spring pushes the ball, placing the stem and the body in constantcontact, thus maintaining electric continuity throughout the unitwhile at the same time avoiding sparks caused by electrostatic.

1.2.5 ANTI BLOW OUT STEM
To prevent the stem from beingdisplaced from its location as aresult of unexpected pressure
increase, the end of the stem is“T” shape. To avoid friction be-tween the stem and the upperbonnet a gasket is used whichalso provides the functions ofairtightness, normally in PTFE,which may be replaced by anoth-er material as required.
1.2.6 PACKING
The packing, in general, is made of elastomeric or graphite rings. Themost usual shapes of these rings are V or rectangular. The pressure inthe rings is supplied by means of the gland flange.In the gas valves Arflu uses dual packing made up of an elastomericor graphite ring and two O-rings.
1.2.6 EMPAQUETADURA
Para evitar que el eje sea expulsado de su ubicación por un aumento
inesperado de la presión, el final del eje es del tipo “T”. Para evitar lafricción entre el eje y la tapa superior se coloca una junta que tambiénhace las funciones de estanqueidad, normalmente de PTFE, pudiéndosesustituir por otro material según requerimiento.
1.2.5 RETENCIÓN DEL VÁSTAGO(Anti blow out stem)
Para evitar que el eje sea expul-sado de su ubicación por un au-
mento inesperado de la presión,el final del eje es del tipo “T”. Paraevitar la fricción entre el eje y latapa superior se coloca una juntaque también hace las funcionesde estanqueidad, normalmen-te de PTFE, pudiéndose sustituirpor otro material según requeri-miento.
1.2.7 SECONDARY INJECTION SYSTEM
System normally used for gas valves. A sealant may be
injected both in the body and in the stem to repair lossof airtightness. For 6” valves and greater, the body injec-tors are positioned on the two seats, while for 4” andgreater the injectors are placed directly on the body.These injectors consist of a ball check valve to avoidleaks.
In the case of buried valves these systemsprolong the whole length of the stem.
1.2.7 SISTEMA DE INYECCIÓN SECUNDARIA
Sistema típicamente utilizado en válvulas para gas. Un
sellante puede ser inyectado tanto en el cuerpo comoen el eje para reparar una perdida de estanqueidad.Para las válvulas de 6” y mayores los inyectores al cuer-po se colocan sobre los dos asientos, mientras que para4” y menores los inyectores se colocan directamente enel cuerpoEstos inyectores estan compuestos por una válvula deretención a bola para evitar fugas al exterior.
En los casos de válvulas enterradas estos sis-temas se prolongan a lo largo de la exten-sión del eje.

1.2.8 Double Black AND Bleed
A system that allows the closure of thetwo faces and a venting of the valvechamber.
1.2.9 AUTO DECOMPRESSIONOF THE BODY CAVITY
The spring system in the seat ringsmeans that the sealing ring is alwaysin contact with the ball. In the event ofa pressure increase in the chamber ofthe body due, for example, to thermalexpansion which exceeds the load ofthe seat springs, the springs will com-press freeing the liquid from the cavityto the tube, creating an auto-decom-pression of the area.
1.2.10 FIRE SAFE DESIGN
All our valves incorporate fire protec-tion design, complying with interna-tional standards such as API-607, API-6FA, BS-6755.To guarantee this design we use fireresistant gaskets and packings name-ly graphite for the packings and metalwith graphite for the gaskets.The seats are designed to have second-ary metallic closing with the ball incase the soft seats get destroyed.
1.2.11 FULLY WELDED VALVES
In this type of valve the body-face un-ion is done by welding. Inthese cases Arflu carries out a specificdesign of these zones, giving maxi-mum importance to the welding an-gle. Welds are carried out by approvedprocedures and welders. To guaranteethe quality of the welds non destruc-tive tests, such as ultrasound and pen-
etrating liquids, are carried out.During the welding process special at-tention is paid to ensure no damage isdone to the seats. To do so, the tem-perature of the seat area is controlledby thermocouples.
1.2.8 DOBLE BLOQUEO Y PURGA
Sistema que permite un cierre en las dos caras a la vez y realizar un ven-teo de la cámara de la válvula.
1.2.9 AUTO DESCOMPRESIÓN DE LA CAVIDAD DEL CUERPO
El sistema de muelles en los anillos de asiento hacen que el anillo decierre siempre este en contacto con la bola. En caso de un aumento depresión en la cámara de cuerpo, debido, por ejemplo a una expansióntermal, que exceda la carga de los muelles del asiento estos se compri-mirán liberando el fluido de la cavidad a la tubería, produciéndose unaauto descompresión de esta zona.
1.2.10 DISEÑO ANTI FUEGO
Todas nuestras válvulas tienen diseño seguro al fuego, cumpliendoestándares internacionales como API-607, API- 6FA, BS-6755.
Para garantizar este diseño utilizamos juntas y empaquetaduras resis-tentes al fuego como puede ser el grafito para las empaquetaduras ymetal con grafito para las juntasLos asientos se diseñan para tener un cierre metálico secundario con labola en caso que los asientos blandos sean destruidos
1.2.11 VÁLVULAS TOTALMENTE SOLDADAS
En este tipo de válvulas la unión cuerpo carretes se realiza mediantesoldadura. Para estos casos Arflu realiza un diseño específico de estaszonas, dándole una gran importancia a los ángulos de soldadura. Lassoldaduras se realizan mediante procedimientos y soldadores homolo-gados. Para garantizar la calidad de las soldaduras se realizan ensayosno destructivos como ultrasonidos y líquidos penetrantes.En el proceso de soldadura se tiene un especial cuidado para no dañarlos asientos, para ello se controla la temperatura en la zona de los asien-tos mediante termopares.

2.2.1 DESIGN AND MANUFACTURE:These are inverted plug valves with a pres-sure balancing system obtained by sectiondifference in the upper and lower part of the
plug and anti-backflow valve which keeps thepressure in the valve chamber, thus avoidinglocking of the plug independently of the dif-ferential pressure which is used.The structure of these valves is top entry typewith bolted bonnet.
2.2.1 DISEÑO Y CONTRUCCIÓNEstas son válvulas de macho invertido con sis-
tema de equilibrado de presión que se consi-gue mediante la diferencia de secciones de laparte superior e inferior del macho, y de unaválvula anti-retorno que mantiene la presiónen la cámara de la válvula, de forma que seevita el bloqueo del macho independiente-mente de la presión diferencial a la que seutilice.La estructura de estas válvulas es del tipo topentry con tapa atornillada
2.2.2 BODY The body is made of cast iron. In the case ofnormal design standards, (API-6D, API-599,etc.) the thickness of the body will comply withwhat is indicated in these standards accordingto the pressure rating of the valve. Should noneof these standards apply, ARFLU uses the regu-lation standard EN 12516 to determine mini-
mum thickness.
2.2.2 CUERPOEl cuerpo es fabricado en acero fundido. En caso
de aplicar normas standard de diseño, (API-6D,API-599, etc) el espesor del cuerpo cumplirá loindicado en estos estándares en función del ra-ting de presión de la válvula. Caso de no aplicarninguna de estas normas ARFLU utiliza la nor-ma standard EN 12516 para la determinación delos espesores mínimos.
2.2.5 MACHOThe plug may be made of cast iron or forgedsteel, depending on the requirements of thecustomer, and with different coatings.The closure between the body and plug ismetal-metal. To avid grippings there is agrease film between body and plug.This grease is injected to the body using injec-tors already incorporated.
2.2.4 MACHOEl macho puede ser fabricado en acero fundi-do o forjado, en función de los requerimientosdel cliente, con distintos recubrimientosEl cierre entre cuerpo y macho es del tipo me-tal metal. Para evitar los gripamientos existeuna película de grasa entre cuerpo y macho.Esta grasa es inyectada al cuerpo medianteunos inyectores existentes en el mismo.
2.2.4 RETENTION OF THE STEM(Anti blow out stem)To avoid the stem from being thrust from its
location due to an unexpected increase inpressure, the end of the stem is “T” shape. Toavoid friction between the stem and the upperbonnet, a gasket is put in place which also pro-vides airtightness, normally PTFE, which maybe replaced by another material according torequirements.
2.2.3 ANTISTATIC DESIGNIn general the closures of the packing and thegaskets are made of non-conductive materi-als such as PTFE, Viton, graphite, etc. In thesecases, to guarantee electric continuity a simplesystem of ball and spring is used, placed in thestem of the valve.The spring pushes the ball, placing the stem inconstant contact with the body and thus main-taining electric continuity throughout the unitand avoiding sparks as a result of electrostatic.
2.2.3 DISEÑO ANTIESTATICOPor lo general los cierres de la empaquetadura y las juntas se realizan en materiales no con-ductivos como PTFE, viton, grafito, etc.En estos casos para garantizar la continuidadeléctrica se utiliza un sistema sencillo de bola ymuelle colocado en el eje de la válvula.El muelle empuja la bola, poniendo constante-mente en contacto, el eje con el cuerpo, mante-niéndose por lo tanto la continuidad eléctricaen todo el conjunto y evitándose también elque se produzcan chispas debido a la electrici-dad estática
