OnMay9thwehaveaspecialopportunitytomakesurethesestudentsarefedfortherestoftheyear!GiveBIGisaone-day,onlinegivingcampaigntohelpnon-profits.Thisyear,weareteamingupwiththeFryelandsFalconstochallengeourcommunitytoGiveBIGforemergencyweekendfood backpacks. ThestudentsandstaffatFryelandsElementaryhavechallengedthemselvesto

eachraise$4—thecostofoneweekendbackpack.EveryoneofourFalconfriendswill be feeding a hungry child. If they can do it, so can you! committedvolunteersofall!HereareafewnumberstohelpyouseewhatIexperienceattheFoodBankeveryday: •115activevolunteers •28volunteerswhohaveworkedherelongerthan5years •18volunteerswhohaveworkedherelongerthan10years •5volunteerswhohaveworkedherelongerthan20years •16,222totalhoursworkedbyallvolunteerslastyear

(that’sover300hoursperweek!)

TheremarkablesuccessoftheSkyValleyFoodBankisareflectionoftheever-increasingdedicationandenthusiasmofourvolunteers.Ourworkhereisdoneasateamandasafamily. Ourvolunteersenjoy being together, and they not only take care of our clients, but also each other. I encourage all of you to stop by and join us for an hour,aday,orquitepossibly,alifetime!Comeseeforyourselfthemeaningof“NeighborsHelpingNeighbors.”IwishIcouldnameeachandeveryvolunteerandtellyouwhat

theydoandhowtheycontributetoourmission.However,spaceislimitedanditwouldprobablybethesizeofanovel!Letmejustsayamazingworkisdoneherebyourvolunteers.Togiveyouafewmorenumbers,everyweekthousandsofpoundsoffoodarelifted,hundredsofclientsareserved,anddozensoftrucksareunloaded.Butnumberscan’tcounttherippleeffectofall the livesthataretouchedbywhatourvolunteersdohereeveryday,startingwithmine!Ivalueeachandeverypersonwhograciouslydonatestheirtime and talent to make Sky Valley Food Bank a success, and IsincerelythankeachandeveryvolunteerforthehoursyougivetomakeMonroeagreatplacetoliveforallofus!
