FFOURTH SUNDAY OF LENT – March 31, 2019
Saint Michael, the Archangel, Please guide and protect our Police Officers, Firefighters, Emergency Personnel and First Responders
Prayer for our Troops Almighty God and Father, hold our servicemen and women
in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for
us in our time and need. We ask this in the name of Jesus, Ourr Lord and Savior.
Amen.
The St. Patrick's Widow and Widowers' Club (Yorktown) will
meet Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at 1:00 pm in the large meeting
room in St. Patrick's new church. For more information call
845-628-4279.
St. Francis de Sales’ rules for fasting:
1. “The first condition is that we must fast with our whole heart, that is to say, willingly, wholeheartedly, universally
and entirely. (St. Bernard says that as it is not our mouth alone which has sinned, but also all our other senses. For if
we have offended God through the eyes, through the ears, through the tongue, and through our other senses, why
should we not make them fast as well?”
2. “The second condition is never to fast through vanity but always through humility. If our first is not performed with
humility, it will not be pleasing to God. To fast through vanity is to fast through self-will….and what does it mean to
fast through self-will? It is to fast as one wishes and not as others wish; to fast in the manner which pleases us, and
not as we are ordered or counseled.”
3. “The third condition necessary for fasting well is to look to God and to do everything to please him. Withdrawing
within ourselves in imitation of a great saint, St. Gregory the Great, who withdrew into a secret and out-of-the-way
place where he remained for some time without anyone knowing where he was, being content that the Lord and his
angels knew it.”
First Friday Nocturnal Adoration
Volunteers are needed to attend First Friday Nocturnal Adoration every month beginning
April 5th. Please contact Ron Williams at 845-531-8534 to schedule a one
hour visit with the Blessed Sacrament.
What is the difference between adoration and
Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. (The Eucharist)?
Adoration is when the faithful visit
and pray with our Lord in the Church or Chapel where Jesus is in
the Tabernacle. Exposition is when The Blessed
Sacrament is exposed and adored by the faithful in the Monstrance
