First of all, you should know that
weather and climate
are not the same thing.
![Page 6: Global Warming](https://reader036.vdocument.in/reader036/viewer/2022070317/5564e551d8b42ad3488b4f87/html5/thumbnails/6.jpg)
Weather is:
Short term
Limited area
Can change rapidly
Difficult to predict
![Page 7: Global Warming](https://reader036.vdocument.in/reader036/viewer/2022070317/5564e551d8b42ad3488b4f87/html5/thumbnails/7.jpg)
Climate is:
Long term
Wide area
Season changes
Measures over long spans of time

What is climate change?
Climate Change refers to any distinct change in measure of climate lasting for a long period of time.
![Page 9: Global Warming](https://reader036.vdocument.in/reader036/viewer/2022070317/5564e551d8b42ad3488b4f87/html5/thumbnails/9.jpg)
What is the Greenhouse Effect
The 'greenhouse effect' takes place when certain gases in the atmosphere of the earth trap heat. The term 'greenhouse' is used because light is allowed to reach the earth, but most of the heat generated is not allowed to escape.
![Page 10: Global Warming](https://reader036.vdocument.in/reader036/viewer/2022070317/5564e551d8b42ad3488b4f87/html5/thumbnails/10.jpg)

Examples of Greenhouse gases
• Water vapor (H2O)
• Carbon dioxide (CO2)
• Nitrous oxide (N2O)
• Methane (CH4)
