Dear Goat Run Athletes, supporters and friends,
Selamat datang and welcome to Goat Run TrailRunning Series 2016, the first trail running series racein Indonesia. After our first series, we are excited towelcome on our 2nd series Mount Merapi.
Trail running have become one of the mostdeveloping and growing sport category in the worldas well as in Indonesia. And it has began to be thespotlight in the running community in Indonesia.With this growth come new opportunities forrunners, business and regions fortunate to be blessedby trails.
Goat Run Trail Running comes with love from a just-ordinary runner who loves trail running and exploringthe beauty of mountains in Indonesia. Not tomention, ambitiously to organized a race event thatcan provide pleasant experience for the participants.We believe, that trail running is the most basic primalinstinct in every human being, giving its own freedomand satisfaction on their curiosity by relying on onething, the human foot.
Goat Run sees that Mountains in Indonesia have bigpotential to become an adventure and sport tourismdestination in Asia and in the world through TrailRunning.
Along with that, Goat Run is fully committed toflourish and support trail running in Indonesia. Weseek new potential runner who will participate in theworld class Trail Running race representing Indonesia.
Goat Run Trail Running Series 2016 will be held in 4different locations. The mountain that we select havesimilarity of steep and technical course but at thesame time will pampered you with its unique beautyof its own. This race will test your physical and mentalstrength to accomplished the race in a tight Cut OffTime. Bringing Mt. Guntur in Garut to open theseries, move to Mt. Merapi in Yogyakarta, Mt. Raungin Banyuwangi, and will end in Mt. Agung in Bali.

Goat Run Trail Running Series will be held in a city filledwith artistic and intellectual heritage, Yogyakarta. MountMerapi has been one of the main attraction in CentralJava with most well know climbing route via New Selo.This time we will take you trough the Ring Of Merapi. Therace will take you pristine and untamed part of MountMerapi, most of the route is unknown among hikers andclimbers. A new route that will give you the chances torun the entire course of Mount Merapi from Deles,Babadan, and Selo, a rare and yet challenging experience.
Accommodation
We continue our partnership with Fave Hotel links at
Kusumanegara. This will be the race pack collection and
briefing session for all runners.
Transport and Travel
To help you focus on preparing the race, we will provide a
shuttle services from Jogyakarta and back to Yogyakarta.

Race Day
When : Saturday, 28 May 2016 | 5am Race Start
The race start will be very dark as the course will
directly entering the forest, having a headlamp is a must. To ensure we get underway on time, please
aim to be at the start no later than 04.30am. There will be plenty of parking space.
Clothing/Equipment
Considering the condition of the course, for runners
safety there will be mandatory gear check for all
runner. Failed to comply on this regulation will be
stated as DNS (did not start). Here are the
mandatory gear that we will check:• Trail running shoes.• Water Proof Jacket• Emergency Blanket• Headlamp or flashlight• Running vest or backpack• Personal medicine• Water tank or bottle containing at least 1.0 liters
of water• Mobile phone with Medical Crew Number saved
in its address book to be able to make emergency calls
TimingTimes are recorded with an electronic transponder chip system. The chip is attached to the back of the BIB number and may not be torn out! Should a chip get lost or fail to work properly, please inform the personnel immediately.
Water Station and Check PointThere will be several check point in between the Water Station. For Merapi series, there will be a Cut Off Time at WS3. Cut Off Time is at 14.0042K runner that didn’t make the COT will be evacuated to New Selo and join the shuttle bus back to Tlogo Putri.
Course MarkingsThe course of GRTR will be marked with signposts, barrier tape, flags stick to the ground, and Ribbon by an experienced and competent team. Form and shape of the signposting will be share during the race briefing session. This, however, does not guarantee a continuously marked course especially after heavy rain, in case of fog or mist or other adverse weather conditions, markings can disappear, be covered up, or not be visible in time. That is why participants have to carry with them the detail map, and altitude profiles of the course.
BIB NumbersThis BIB number it is issued personally per participant and nontransferable. Any runners that proven transferring BIB numbers to other runner and that BIB number used by other person is finishing or winning the race, he/she will not be granted point series and not entitle for the prizes.The transponder chip in the BIB number is scanned before the start and in the finish. In case of a withdrawal from the race the transponder chip will be removed from the BIB number.

Time Penalties And DisqualificationsThe organizer reserves the right to disqualify participants or impose time penalties between 5 and 120 minutes due to following matters:• Disregard of the directives of the race and course
director, rescue director, or officials at course.• Littering/polluting the environment• Unfair behavior or misconduct toward other
competitors• Failing to help a person in danger• Health problems of a participant• Doping• Deliberately taking shortcuts• Tampering with BIB number.This is a list of examples and by no means to be understood as complete! Participants that are disqualified from the race cannot claim reimbursement from the organizer.
Environmental Protection/NatureDo not drop rubbish at Aid Stations or on the trails. Rubbish bags are provided at all Water Station. Anyone caught deliberately littering may be disqualified from this race and banned from future events. If you will generate waste on the run, please use a small ziplock bag to stash your trash and carry it with you.
If you need to poo or pee on the mountains please
step away from sight (25 meters) and very far from
waterways. Bury any waste by digging a deep hole
with the heel of your shoe. Completely bury all
waste.
Etiquette
You will be sharing these trails with hikers and
campers. Please make sure you move off the trail to
allow these other users to pass by. When passing
slower runners, please indicate that you’d like to
pass by saying passing on your left (or right) when
overtaking.
Don’t over taking on the single track section, there
will be plenty area with open space for you to pass
runner in front of you!
Withdraw from the raceParticipants that decide to withdraw from the race for whatever reason (i.e. exhaustion, injury) must inform the race organizers immediately by calling theprovide number printed on the BIB.
Finish
• The official results of the race are determined in
the finish.
• Changing weather or trail conditions may
command the race and course director to change
the cutoff times accordingly. For their own safety,
participants that do not make the cut off times
(e.g. from 14.00) will officially be taken out of the
race.
• Participants who have been taken out of the race
by the race director, course director, the
personnel at the check points, or arrive at the
finish not under their own power but some means
of transportation, will not appear in the official
ranking and will be no more finisher.
• After each races, the winner will be awarded with
wining jersey which must be worn on the next /
following race within the series.
Race Safety
Please take care of both yourselves and the other competitors on the course. If someone needs help, please stop and help them. There will be a safety crew at the race as indicated on page 8.
Some volunteers hold first aid qualifications. Safety staff will have radio communications with the Race Director and Safety Manager in case of an emergency.

These are the following categories to compete in:• Open : apply for all ages below 40 years old• Master: apply for all ages above 40 years old.The minimum number of participants in each category is 20 and if the minimum number of participants in a given category is not sufficient the category will be included into the overall category. For example : if only 18 person registered on the Master Category, then all of the runner will automatically include into the open category and vice versa.
The ranking system is apply to all categories and is weighted based on Goat Run Trail Running Races system to give a fair and valid judgment for runners.
The points system are applied on 2 basic principles:• Finisher points: each runner who finishes a race
scores finish points according to the race’s classification (see below)
• Performance points: each runner will score additional performance points according to his/her ranking in the official result of the race and according to a fixed table (see the table on below)

SAFETY INFORMATION
Medical Support Most Common Risk at Merapi
We try our best to on providing quality medical care to all participants and supporters. The following medical services are provided:
Effects of Cold/Hypothermia
With potential heavy rain and winds, runner get easily risk of Hypothermia. Hypothermia can strike very quickly, particularly when pace slows from exhaustion or injury. The initial warning signs of hypothermia often include lethargy, disorientation and confusion. The runner will feel very cold with uncontrolled shivering and may become confused, unaware of the surroundings, and may possibly be an immediate danger to him or herself. Staying well nourished, adequately hydrated and appropriately clothed will help avoid hypothermia. It is important that runners have access to warm clothing through their bags.
Blistered and falling due to loose rocks
On your way to the summit, the terrain will consist of loose dirt and rocks, manage your steps and slow down on the descend. Be aware of runner above you for falling rocks.
Fast runner are advise to carefully to see their steps and avoid making unnecessary pressure to the ground.
• Finish line medical treatment areas available at the race central / finish line, equipped with emergency ambulance. This station are staffed by doctors and nurses
• On-course event medics where we work with Maha Pyhsio to attend unwell or injured athlete.
• Course marshals who can radio for help• Emergency search and rescue supported by
BASARNAS are standby in case needed.
Although medical and other personnel will assist you when possible, remember that you are ultimately responsible for your own wellbeing on the trail. Only you will know how your body and mind feel at any given time. Monitor yourself during the entire run, and prepare yourself to drop out at the nearest checkpoint if you find it just isn’t your day.
