New YearNew California
Employment Laws
The 2017 legislative session produced new laws that will affect California employers' day-to-day operations and policies in 2017 and beyond. That's because quite a few bills feature delayed or phased-in implementation. Some of the new laws, such as the minimum wage increase, make significant changes to California's legal landscape. Other new laws make small changes to different parts of existing law or may affect only employers in specific industries. CalChamber's free "An Overview of New 2017 Laws Affecting California Employers" white paper identifies noteworthy new laws, including legislation relating to:• Wage and hour, including minimum wage and overtime• Expanded discrimination and retaliation protections, including significant amendments to the Fair Pay Act• Leaves of absence, including new hire notification requirements• Background checks, workers' compensation and other key employment areas
For more information on the new 2017 laws affecting california employers click here.

16th Annual Tehachapi Christmas Parade ""
The Holidays are a time for families and friends to gather. On Saturday, December 3rd at 5:30 p.m. The Greater Tehachapi Chamber of Commerce is planning the 16th Annual Christmas Parade “Winter Wonderland”. The Parade route will be down “F” Street beginning at Mulberry Street.
This event is planned so the community can gather together for visiting old friends, making new friends, drinking hot chocolate, watching the parade, sharing a meal, enjoying the lights, singing carols, strolling from business to business doing your Christmas Shopping. This is to be an exciting holiday event filled with community spirit for all ages. Wouldn’t a few snowflakes complete the magic?
Last year's parade was such a success that you don't want to miss out on this year's event! Parade Applications are available at the Chamber Office, 209 E. Tehachapi Blvd. or by clicking here. Deadline for applications is Monday, November 21, 2016.
In order to make the parade successful, it takes volunteers. What better way to get into the Christmas spirit than to be a part of the parade committee. Contact the Chamber office at 661-822-4180 for more information. All volunteers are welcome.
The Greater Tehachapi Chamber of Commerce is offering an opportunity for our members to enjoy more recognition, visibility and opportunities through our Chairman’s Circle. The Chairman’s Circle offers a number of ways to market, advertise and promote your company on a regular, consistent basis.
The Chairman’s Circle offers four specifc packages ranging from $1,000 to $7,000. It is the Chamber’s goal to help you develop an annual package of benefits that will raise the visibility of your company in the community. By strategically planning your marketing and advertising activities in these areas, you can develop an individual campaign that will deliver bottom line benefits.
Chairman’s Circle members enjoy the convenience of a one-time all-inclusive transaction that insures representation at Chamber events, in its publications and on the Chamber’s website. This is a wonderful way to
plan your budget each year. The Chairman’s Circle will not only let you plan for your sponsorships of annual events, but will also avoid those many calls individuals receive to gather support for the Chamber’s many great events.
Feel free to contact me with any questions regarding the Chairman’s Circle. I invite you to arrange a visit to discuss the benefits and privileges of membership in this special group of members who have made an annual commitment to support the Greater Tehachapi Chamber of Commerce through sponsorships and marketing opportunities. I look forward to working with you on a program to enhance your company’s recognition and visibility in our community.
