Sale (25.39) and 400 metres at Warragul (22.72).
Bekim Bale litter CROWLANDS breeder,
Tracey Salter has a nice
litter of seven pups on the
list by the successful, but
under-rated sire, Bekim
Bale (October 2009
Bartrim Bale x Amelia
Bale).
I think a lot of people forget that he was the 2014/15
AGRA Sire of the Year and 2015 Victorian
Metropolitan Sire of the Year.
Tracey’s litter of two dogs and five bitches are
from the beautifully bred bitch, Bye All (February 2015
Turanza Bale x Amelia Bale), whose dam is by
Mogambo x Off Springer (Flying Penske* x Skullring).
She is from a litter of seven named, with five of
the six who raced, winning and between them they
raced 290 times, for 43-41-34.
Her record shows she raced 29 times, for five
wins and four placings, winning over 525 metres at The
Meadows (30.69), 545 metres at Ballarat (31.38), 525
metres at Traralgon (30.86) and 425 metres at Bendigo
(24.44).
This really is a beautifully bred litter, Tracey, and
I would certainly be looking at the five bitches, with
future breeding in mind.
It is also worth remembering, Bye All’s dam,
Athletica, is a litter sister to outstanding stayer, now
successful producer, Sweet It Is.
Avatar* litter OUR final litter for review this
week has six pups by the highly
rated US sire, SH Avatar*
(May 2010 Kiowa Mon
Manny* x Tom S Caterwaul).
SH Avatar* was a 2012
and 2013 All American, and the
highest stakes winner on record in the US.
Nerrena breeder, Benjamin George has his litter,
of three dogs and three bitches, who are from the very
well bred, proven producer, Dozen Osyters (June 2011
Fear Zafonic* x Surf Queen), whose dam is by Surf
Lorian x Queen Size (Deep North x Ultra Queen).
She is from a very good litter of six named, all
winners, which included, Fear Blue Size, 5-1-0-0,
Shakeby, 16-7-2-2, Surfonic, 56-17-8-12, Walk With
Faith, 41, 11-9-4 and Whatta Good Size, 46-23-11-4.
Overall, the litter raced 180 times, for 64-32-26
which was a great strike rate of 35.6%.
She was lightly raced, with just 16 starts, which
resulted in five wins and six placings, with wins over
420 metres at Lismore (24.24), 407 metres at Grafton
(23.03) and 311 metres at Cranbourne (18.07).
She has an excellent strike rate as a brood bitch,
from her 20 named offspring from her first three litters,
with winners in all three litters.
Her first litter was whelped in July 2014, by
Barcia Bale, and included Belt Up Foss, Chew My
Shoe, Clair De Lune, Mabilis Also and Shiny Bright.
Then in November 2015 she whelped a litter by
Fabregas, which included Billy Clover, Racey Rose,
Bombastic Trixie and Maluki.
Her third litter, whelped in January 2017, bred by
Cranbourne East breeder, Shane Flynn, by Magic
Sprite, has a 100% winning strike rate, with Kilpatrick,
Oyster Boy, Ryan’s Illusion, Thermos, Thumbs and
Wakanda, all winning.
Certainly a well bred litter to finish off with this
week, Benjamin, and with SH Avatar* having done so
well with the litters he has on the ground here, I would
imagine you would be pretty excited with these well
bred youngsters.

Wednesday Rewind - 2016 Australia Cup
Final
Dyna Double One has been one of my all-time
favourite greyhounds to watch, so it's only fitting to
re-live his sensational victory in the 2016 Group
One Australia Cup.
Going into the heats on the back of an outstanding win
in the Group One Rookie Rebel over 600m a week
earlier, this son of Barcia Bale and Crystin Bale was
all the rage with punters at $1.40.
Jumping from box two, the 35kg chaser streaked away
from his rivals to score by five lengths at the finish in
a sizzling 29.64.
After drawing box two again in the final, punters were
keen to back the Andrea Dailly trained chaser to
complete a rare feat of the Melbourne Cup and
Australian Cup double, which was last achieved by
Tangaloa back in 1980.
Stepping out onto the track at $2.20, the next best
backed runner was Jason Thompson's Pop The Cork,
who went into the race with four runners.
Thompson's Black Frenzy won the jump from box five
and it was up to Dyna Double One to once again
exude his incredible strength to secure the title.
After taking control in the home straight, the black
flash dashed away by three lengths in the end,
recording another sizzling gallop of 29.76. Black
Frenzy finished second, with trainer Andrea Dailly
also claiming third place with Diego Bale.
Not only did Dyna Double One break a 36-year old
record, his career prizemoney earnings cracked the
magical million dollar mark, with his total of
$1,160,316, still placing him third on the all-time
prizemoney winners list.
As one of very few greyhounds to have run down
Fernando Bale, which he did in 2015 to claim victory
in the Group One Melbourne Cup, his strength and
desire to be first the past the post, resulted in so many
supporters, with a flourishing stud career on the rise.
Dyna Double One.
Melb-Aust Cup
winner, $1million
plus in stakes.

most under-rated
sires.

Whelping Report
Nine for Billy THIS week’s review of litters on the small NSW list of
only four litters for the week ending 31 December,
starts with a nice litter of nine pups by Brad Hill Billy
(January 2013 Kinloch Brae* x Break Even).
Registered by Cowra breeder, Pamela Braddon,
the three dogs and six bitches are from the well bred,
proven producer, Little Meeka (August 2011 Collision
x Taradearra), whose dam is by Over Flo x Janderra
(Ultimate Wish x Mackie).
She is from a handy litter of four named, all
winners, who raced 302 times, for the impressive
record of 89-62-49 with a win strike race of 29.5%.
She raced 74 times, for 16 wins and 36 placings,
winning six times over 318 metres at Dubbo (18.30),
where she also won over 400 metres (23.17), four
times over 327 metres at Cowra (18.99), three times
over 307 metres at Bathurst (17.60) with single wins
over 330 metres at Temora (19.28) and 350 metres at
Goulburn (19.97).
She has five named offspring, all winners, from
her first litter, whelped in July 2016, by Fabregas, then
she whelped a litter of four dogs and three bitches, by
El Grand Senor, in March 2018.
Two dog pups UNFORTUNATELY just the two dogs in our next
litter, by Chenzhou Boy (January 2009 Bombastic
Shiraz x Ocean Song).
Registered by Londonderry breeder, Luke
Azzopardi, the pair are from the very well bred bitch,
Intuitiv Emgrand (January 2015 Mogambo x Fantasy
Royale), whose dam is by Premier Fantasy* x Le
Royale (Brett Lee x Sporty’s Babe).
She is from a litter of eight named, with seven
winners, who between them raced 243 times, for 53
wins and 59 placings, led by Kong, 15 wins, Wonelova
Gunn, 11 wins, Watta Gun, 9 wins and Express Gunn,
9 wins.
Her record shows she raced just six times, for
one placing, a third over 450 metres at Shepparton,
beaten 3.5 lengths (26.30 B26.06), but worth noting, in
four of her six starts she was beaten by less than seven
lengths.
She has one previous litter on file, with one dog
and two bitches, whelped in April, 2018, by Shima
Bar.
Go Fernando OAKFORD breeder, Luke Garbutt has a nice litter of
ten pups on the list by national stud sensation,
Fernando Bale (March 2013 Kelsos Fusileer* x Chloe
Allen).
The five dogs and five bitches are from the
lightly raced, former WA sprinter, Stand As One
(February 2015 SH Avatar* x Ebby Miss), whose dam
is by Head Bound x Senza Nome (Southern Champ* x
Lucky Penna).
She is from a litter of eleven which produced ten
winners, who between them had 454 starts, for 118
wins and 139 placings, led by Ebby Ripper, 25 wins,
Utah Miss, 19 wins, Rbby Chance, 17 wins, Mija
Sydney, 15 wins, Suffragette, 13 wins and Mister
Ebby, 10 wins.
Her record shows she raced just seven times, for
two wins and two placings, winning over 380 metres
(21.80) and 520 metres (31.07) at Cannington.
Certainly plenty to like about the form of her
litter and I would imagine this litter will attract plenty
of interest.
Eight for Fabio OUR final litter from this week’s NSW list is a nice
litter of eight pups by successful sire, My Bro Fabio
(March 2012 Turanza Bale x Flamenco).
Registered by Cootamundra breeder, Michael
Hugo, the four dogs and four bitches are from the wull
bred bitch, Rear Chance (January 2014 Premier
Fantasy* x Half A Chance), whose dam is by
Bombastic Shiraz x It’s A Chance (Collision x Aziz
Osti).
he is from a litter of seven named, with six
racing, for 330 starts for 74-58-55, led by the prolific
winner, Extreme Chance, 134-48-39-21.
She was the other standout in the litter, with her
95 starts resulting in 20 wins and 32 placings.
She won nine times over 347 metres at Young
(19.86), three times over 310 metres at Canberra
(17.97), where she also won three times over 440
metres (25.69), twice over 453 metres at Cowra
(26.14), where she also won over 327 metres (18.91)
and 330 metres at Temora (19.48).

Kiwi Spice to Australian Cup Mix By Gerard Guthrie GRV Website
New Zealand Cup winner Bago Bye Bye added an
intriguing extra dimension to an already compelling
Group 1 TAB Australian Cup picture with a
breathtaking heat performance at his Meadows debut.
Bago Bye Bye, now back with Queensland trainer
Darren Russell after an extraordinary stint in the Shaky
Isles, where he won 10 of his 13 starts, highlighted by
the NZ Cup in November, created plenty of interest in
the last of Saturday night’s eight cut-throat heats.
Drawn in box eight in one of the more open run-offs,
the son of Barcia Bale started at $7 and came out
running to lead clearly at the winning post the first
time.
It was one-way traffic from that point as Bago Bye Bye
put his rivals to the sword, celebrating his return to
Australia with an emphatic ten-length victory over
Blackjack Neo in a scintillating best of night 29.54sec,
his 15th win from 23 career starts.
Prior to Bago Bye Bye setting tongues wagging in the
final qualifier, three high profile trainers had dominated
proceedings, claiming heat doubles – Seona Thompson,
Dave Geall and Andrea Dailly.
Thompson started the night in perfect fashion when
Melbourne Cup runner-up Black Opium ($1.90)
returned to winning form, taking full advantage of box
one to lead throughout in 29.91sec, her 11th win from
15 starts.
Thompson then completed her double in the
penultimate heat when Deliver ($2.80), winner of the
Group 1 Rookie Rebel over 600m on the opening night
of the Cup Carnival, had absolutely no problems
dropping back in distance, posting 29.70s to record his
fourth straight win.
The first of Dave Geall’s winners came in heat three,
courtesy of flying ex-NSW front-runner Miss
Splendamiro ($4.40), which held on to defeat fast-
finishing favourite Poke The Bear ($1.70) by one length
in 29.73sec.
Geall’s Melbourne Cup hero My Redeemer ($1.70)
then booked a berth in another of the great races on the
Australian calendar when running 29.71sec off the rails
in the fifth run-off.
Andrea Dailly, who last year celebrated her fourth
Australian Cup success courtesy of Hecton Bale, will
have two finalists as she strives to go back-to-back,
with litter mates Dyna Patty ($12.30), winner of the
Group 1 Maturity at The Meadows last year, and Dyna
Oscar ($7.40), running 29.67sec and 29.94sec
respectively.
The remaining run-off saw another Melbourne Cup
placegetter in She’s Gifted ($4.90); trained by Deborah
Coleman, finish best to take out heat three in 30.36sec,
the only winner not to break 30 seconds.
The all-important Australian Cup box draw was
conducted on Monday at a great function held at Zinc in
Melbourne’s Federation Square. All details including
Tab fixed markets appear on page 15.
Any doubts that champion stayer Tornado Tears would
return to his brilliant best after a lengthy injury-
enforced spell were erased in no uncertain terms at The
Meadows on Saturday night.
Contesting the last of three heats of the Group 1 Fanta
Bale Super Stayers, Tornado Tears produced a
sensational display, clocking a near-record 41.96sec,
just .03 outside his ‘uncle’ Space Star’s 725m
benchmark.
Space Star, a litter brother to Tornado Tears’ dam Tears
Siam, also trained by master distance conditioner
Robert Britton, set the record in the heats of the Super
Stayers in 2015.
Tornado Tears had only returned to the track one week
earlier, after five months on the sidelines due to a hock
injury, when he claimed a memorable – albeit narrow –
victory in the Group 1 Zoom Top invitational.
After running 42.51sec in the Zoom Top, Tornado
Tears started a prohibitive $1.20 favourite from box
two in the final Super Stayers heat, with his litter-
brother Rippin’ Sam ($7.70) the only other runner at
single figures.
Tornado Tears began well and settled second behind
Taken King ($18.70) and after railing to the lead
approaching the home turn he exploded clear, careering
away to a 7.34 length victory over Queenslander
Double Gee ($15.70) and Boom Down ($26.50).
It was Tornado Tears’ eighth win in a row and 21st
from 30 overall, while he’s yet to taste defeat in four
starts over The Meadows’ 725m course.
The Zoom Top form from the opening night of the
Australian Cup Carnival also stood up in the opening
heat of the Super Stayers when ultra-consistent NSW
visitor Blue Moon Rising was a commanding 42.73sec
victor.
Blue Moon Rising, trained by veteran mentor John
Finn, had been edged out by Tornado Tears in the
Zoom Top, beaten less than half a length, and he went
one better as the $2.20 favourite in the first Super
Stayers run-off.
Blue Moon Rising has now finished first or second in
his last 14 starts.
NSW raiders won the opening two heats of the Super
Stayers with veteran Ebby Ripper, prepared by Michael
Eberand, producing her trademark powerful finish to
claim the second qualifier in 42.48sec, running down
leader Black Impala ($4.20) at her 102nd start.

Tornado Tears ‘spaces’ Stayers rivals By Gerard Guthrie
Any doubts that champion stayer Tornado Tears would
return to his brilliant best after a lengthy injury-
enforced spell were erased in no uncertain terms at The
Meadows on Saturday night.
Contesting the last of three heats of the Group 1 Fanta
Bale Super Stayers, Tornado Tears produced a
sensational display, clocking a near-record 41.96sec,
just .03 outside his ‘uncle’ Space Star’s 725m
benchmark.
Space Star, a litter brother to Tornado Tears’ dam
Tears Siam, also trained by master distance conditioner
Tornado Tears has been installed $1.30 favourite in
TAB’s market after drawing box five, with Double Gee
and Poco Dorado sharing the second line of betting at
$7.

Community groups back a winner at
Australian Cup By Greyhound Racing Victoria
When eight dogs line up in the boxes at this Saturday’s
Australian Cup final, it won’t just be the trainers,
owners and punters full of nerves.
Thanks to The Meadows Greyhounds Community
Grants Fund, each dog in the final will be paired up
with a local charity with the winner set to receive a
$10,000 donation.
The charities not associated with the winning dog will
hardly go home empty handed though, with The
Meadows to donate $2000 to each of the seven
remaining charities.
The Meadows Chairman Eddie Caruana said he was
thrilled to give back to community organisations on
such a big night.
“TAB Australian Cup night is our biggest event of the
year and it’s so wonderful to use the occasion to give
back to so many community groups,” Mr Caruana said.
“As a club, we pride ourselves on being a key part of
the wider Broadmeadows community and to help those
in need within that community.
The Meadows Greyhounds Community Grants Fund
was created in 2017 to extend financial support to non-
profit organisations that provide quality programming
in the areas of health, education, sport, recreation and
community enhancement in the City of Hume.

Kiwi spice to Australian Cup mix By Gerard Guthrie
Bago Bye Bye celebrated his return from a NZ stint when
producing a standout performance in in the Australian
Cup heats.
Prior to Bago Bye Bye setting tongues wagging in the
final qualifier, three high profile trainers had
dominated proceedings, claiming heat doubles – Seona
Thompson, Dave Geall and Andrea Dailly.
Splendamiro ($4.40), which held on to defeat fast-
finishing favourite Poke The Bear ($1.70) by one
length in 29.73sec.
After drawing box four for the $250,000 to-the-winner
final, Bago Bye Bye is a $5 chance, with My
Redeemer (box 2) at $3.50 and Dyna Patty (box 1) at
$3.80 heading the market.

Veteran’s instant Sandown success
By Mick Floyd
A $600 purchase turned into a
$5280 return for trainer Tony
Duncan after Dashing Dino
scored an upset in the first race
at Sandown Park last Thursday
night.
Duncan purchased the
greyhound from former trainer
Jess Fothergill just 10 days
ago, and in his first start in his
new kennel he not only faced the stiffest competition
of his 61-start career, but repaid his purchase price
almost nine times over.
“I can’t believe it, I just can’t believe it,” he said after
Dashing Dino won for the first time in over a year.
“When he came off the back I said to the boys, ‘I’m
going to win this!’ He’s usually pretty bad in the
boxes, but he came out with them and got a good run
through.”
Dashing Dino touched $101 with TAB fixed odds
before starting at $81. Duncan didn’t give his charge
much chance and didn’t back him.
“I haven’t really done anything with him. I was coming
here with All In Baz (who ran second in the fourth
race) and thought he may as well come with me.”
It was Dashing Dino’s fourth career win and first in
over a year, and took his career prize money to
$12,555.

FOSTER A GREYHOUND:
There are many greyhounds who need a little more
assistance to help them settle into pet life
They fall into two categories
Greyhounds who are transitioning from the track
and need help to pass their GAP assessment
OR
Those dogs who have been a marginal fail at their
GAP assessment
These dogs are just gorgeous happy greyhounds, the
only difference is that need a little more help to
transition into pet life
The reality is that without foster carers some of
these dogs are at risk
