IncentiveStrengthening the learning communities of drying expertsby improving drying processes together

ObjectiveBy sharing knowledge and experiences from several experts inspecific drying cases, we work on technology enhancementand improvement of drying knowledge within the dryingcommunities.

ApproachCASES presented by case holders:

Huhtamaki: development of an In Mold Drying Process.Aims: improved product quality, lower production costs, fits in asustainable future.ANDRITZ Gouda: assessment of re-using vapour created in apaddle dryer by drying as heat source for a second dryer.Aim: 50% less energy.Danone: application of integrated powder propertiesmeasurements in spray-towers for improved quality andenergy control.Aim: tighter process control.Schut Papier: application of air-property measurements in thepockets of a cilinder dryer for paper.Aim: improved control over product quality and energy use.Hessing Supervers: improved production control and energyoptimisation in removing adhering water from washedvegetables.Aim: less energy, optimal quality.

Cyber security & Industrial IoT:Lot’s of digitization: smart, wireless SCADA;results in a changing risk landscape concerning theun-interrupted ‘Availability’ of ICTs.Aim: risk awareness & mitigationTraining & Sharing:• Assembling online digital training material.• Knowledge clips on new topics.• Expert meetings with action dialog.

ResultsThe strengthening of drying communities is applicable in thewhole drying sector; specific project results are applicable forpaper production, airless contact drying, spray towers andwater removal from sensitive products.
