All of us, in some way, will be in spiritual union, as we can participate in personal prayer the Easter Acclamations: Christ suffered, He died and rose from the dead. The Easter chant “He is Risen!” Alleluia, Alleluia! ***The church will be open Sunday mornings from 10:30am-12pm. You are welcome to come pray during this time. We ask that you kindly observe social distancing protocal.*** Easter Sunday: Recorded Mass from The Cathedral of St. Mary with Bishop Steven Biegler Presiding beginning at 9:00 am (in English or Spanish) Focusing the Gospel: Key words and phrases: came to the tomb, early in the morning, stone removed from the tomb, taken the Lord from the tomb, came to the tomb, arrived at the tomb, went into the tomb, arrived at the tomb, had to rise from the dead. To the point: Mary arose “early in the morning” to go to Jesus’ tomb. This image of a new day speaks to us of a new beginning, new opportunities, new encounters. Early morning speaks to us of the freshness of new life. By contrast, this gospel uses the word “tomb” seven times, speaking to us about the seeming finality of Jesus’ death. By even greater contrast, the gospel ends with the Scripture certitude that Jesus “had to rise from the dead.” Death is overcome. Death has no victory. God is the Lord of life. Easter celebrates a new beginning, our certitude of new life. May we choose that Life. MASS WITH BISHOP STEVEN: Please tune in each week for Mass with Bishop Steven: You may subscribe on YouTube by joining Cathedral of St. Mary-Cheyenne. (Bishop Steven’s Blog & Diocese Website: http://bishopsteven.dioceseofcheyenne.org/ http://dioceseofcheyenne.org/covid19/ ) RING! RING! HELLO? DONATION REQUEST: If anyone has a landline phone with an answering machine that you no longer are using, and can donate it for usage in our parish office, we would love to take it off your hands! Please contact Mike Hobby at [email protected]. Thanks! CATHOLIC LIFE EXPLAINED Question: Why do Catholics make the sign of the cross? Answer: The sign of the cross is a devotional practice that dates back to the first Apostles. When making the sign of the cross, we remember Jesus Christ who died for us and also bear witness to the fact that we belong to him and are called to share the Good News to all the world. At our Baptism, we were signed with a cross and marked for Christ. That mark remains on us throughout the entirety of our lives. We re-mind ourselves of that mark every time we make the same gesture over our bodies. We also remind ourselves that to be a Christian means we are to “put on Christ” and be Christ for a world that needs to know him. In a way, this devotional gesture covers us with Christ so that others may see him in us. Catholics are not the only ones who make the sign of the cross. Orthodox, Lutheran, and Anglicans are examples of other Christians who maintain this same ancient tradition.

Subject: Letter from Keith Jones, Chairman, Holy Family Finance Council
April 3, 2020
Greetings Holy Family Parishioners
I pray this letter finds you and your family safe and in God’s arms during these difficult and uncertain times.
The Covid-19 Pandemic has placed a never before strain on our families and communities. It has caused all
schools, many businesses, and all houses of worship to close. We are encouraged to stay home as much as
possible and stay quarantined. This virus has taken the lives of several thousand people in the US and
unfortunately several more thousand will succumb to this pandemic. Star Valley Health has confirmed two
positive tests for the Coronavirus on community members in Star Valley.
During these times, as Catholics, we need to look towards our faith and pray our families can weather this
pandemic physically, emotionally, and financially. As our families deal with these heartaches, our Holy
Family Church will continue to need our support both spiritually and financially. Our parish finances are
currently stable and we should be able to weather this storm; however, if this pandemic continues for an
extensive amount of time, our finances could be in trouble requiring us to start using our reserve funds.
We still have monthly bills, administrative costs, and funds are needed to help the poor. We were looking
to have some important snow/ice mitigation safety upgrades done to our church this summer, which we
have placed on hold.
During this time when we cannot physically attend Mass, an option to help support our church is through
“Online Giving” on our Holy Family Website https://holyfamilywy.org/on-line-giving. My wife, Carlene
and I have decided to sign up for this, as it will enable us to continue to support our church. Please view
this website. You will be able to setup a one-time or ongoing contribution. I understand some of our
parishioners may be unemployed because of this pandemic and experiencing financial issues. We all need
to pray for these families and help them whenever possible. This pandemic may take us away from
attending Mass at our church, but it cannot take away our faith.
May God keep you in his arms.

Letter from Holy Family Catholic Church
In response to the Coronavirus pandemic, Holy Family Church will be
updating parishioners on any developments affecting our parish.
Currently, we are taking measures to reach out to our parishioners
inquiring about any health, welfare and spiritual needs they may have.
Members of the Knights of Columbus, Council of Catholic Women, Holy
Family Administration and clergy are reaching out to aid parishioners in
this time of need. You will be receiving text, phone or email messages
inquiring about any concerns you may have. This outreach additionally
applies to anyone in our Valley you feel needs assistance. Volunteers are
ready to assist you during this crisis. The individuals listed below can
answer any question or concern you may have.
• Mike Wellmann 801-440-7570
• Pam Padilla 307-883-3429
• Father Lucas 307-733-2516
A point of interest: Holy Family Church is functioning while we self
quarantine. Many of us are not signed up for on-line giving. If the spirit
moves you and you haven’t signed up for on-line giving consider doing
so.
Novena Prayer for an end to the Coronavirus Pandemic
O Mary, full of grace, Patroness of this nation and Mother of the Church, in this time of illness and worldwide need we seek your intercession for the human family before your Son’s throne of grace and mercy. We ask for strength in adversity, health in weakness, and comfort in sorrow. Help us, O Blessed Mother, to be filled with confidence and trust in the tender compassion of our God. Let us not be afraid, like our own Saint Marianne Cope, who entrusted her life and ministry among the outcasts of society into the care of our Divine Physician. Continue to watch over all who are sick as well as those who care for them and give wisdom to all who are seeking a cure. We ask this through Christ, our Lord. Amen.
“God is our refuge and
strength, a very present help
in trouble. Therefore, we will
not fear though the earth
gives way, though the moun-
tains be moved into the heart
of the sea, though its waters
roar and foam, though the
mountains tremble at its
swelling.” (Psalm 46:1-3)

INGREDIENTS:
14 pound bone-in fully cooked ham
1 cup sliced carrots
1 cup sliced onions
1 cup sliced celery
1 teaspoon peppercorns
1 teaspoon allspice
2 teaspoons thyme
3 bay leaves
2 cups of dry white wine
(I used Chardonnay)
2 cups chicken broth
DIRECTIONS:
Preheat the oven to 325 degrees.
Unwrap the ham and remove any strings or other extraneous matter. Rinse the ham under running
water. Place the ham in a dutch oven, strew the vegetable around it. sprinkle the seasoning over
it, pour the wine over top and add the chicken broth.
Set the dutch oven in the lower third level of the oven and braise for 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Baste occa-
sionally with the juices from the pan. It is done when an internal temperature is at 130 degrees.
Strain the braising liquid from he pan, pressing juices out of the vegetable with the back of a spoon.
Degrease the liquid and taste. If it is to salty, dilute with strong plain chicken stock.
Serve the ham juices as they are or make a gravy by combining 1/3 cup of flour to 1/3 cup butter
or peanut oil. Make a loose paste. Stir over moderate low heat with a wooden spoon for 6-10
minutes until medium brown. Remove from heat and add the ham stock. Whisk until smooth and
thick.
