How will clinicians access the HIE information?
• At University of Missouri HealthCare the clinician will open the patient’s chart and click on the “Community View” Menu selection in PowerChart.

Demographic Bar
The Demographic Bar shows you: * Patient Name * Sex * Age * Date of Birth (DOB) * HIE ID
Unique number HIE assigns to patient * Primary Care Physician (PCP)
Comes from latest ADT not necessarily UMHC ADT * Home phone
Comes from latest ADT not necessarily UMHC

Page Search
Type in a key word and click the Search button to search for information contained
on the page.
If information is found it will display in yellow.

Conditions/Problems
The Conditions/Problems section shows you:
* Current problems pulled from the Problem List
* Displays the source of the data (e.g. CRMC – Capital Region Medical Center)
* Hover over the source name to see the name of the facility

Medications
The Medication section shows you:
* Current medications (both prescriptions and historical/home meds)
* The Search window in this section only searches the medication portion of the window and not the whole page.
* All searches work the same except for the Page Search which searches the whole page.

If there are No Results the section will display in blue type.

Click on the Switch link to change the display to see the Order Name, Reference Range and to view more links to past data (e.g. Past Year
instead of the 6 month default display)

Discharge Summary & Provider Reports
Provider reports may have different nomenclature – for example a Cath Note may be called an Op Note by some organizations or a Diagnostic Report by
another organization.
EKG’s tracings won’t be in the system but interpretations will be in the system.

Visits
Displays location of the visit (e.g. Private Clinic) and shows if the visit was an inpatient or outpatient visit, the reason for visit and the attending provider.

Benefits of the HIE• Gives providers immediate access to help treat the
patient.• Reduces the need for duplication of tests and treatments
because the provider can see the patient’s results.• Provides information to help reduce the chance for
medication and allergy interaction errors• Maintains the privacy of the patient’s health information
while making it available when and where it is needed as long as the provider is in the exchange and the patient has given written consent.
