NOVEMBER IS DIABETES
AWARENESS MONTH
Diabetes is a disease that occurs when your blood glucose, also called blood sugar, is too high. Blood glucose is your main source of energy and comes from the food you eat. Insulin, a hormone made by the pancreas, helps glucose from food get into your cells to be used for energy. Sometimes your body doesn’t make enough—or any—insulin or doesn’t use insulin well. Glucose then stays in your blood and doesn’t reach your cells. Over time, having too much glucose in your blood can cause health problems. Although diabetes has no cure, steps can be taken to manage diabetes and stay healthy.
Symptoms of diabetes include
increased thirst and urination
increased hunger
fatigue
blurred vision
numbness or tingling in the feet or hands
sores that do not heal
unexplained weight loss For more information, visit: www.niddk.nih.gov/

What does an EFMP assignment review include? HQMC EFMP reviews each EFMP family member’s medical and/or educational needs, as documented on the DD 2792 and DD 2792-1 with IFSP/IEP. Each of these requirements is matched to the resources at the proposed location at the time of the review and includes: 1. The specific medical provider (MTF or network)
is accessible within the mileage guidelines, based upon frequency of care as outlined in MCO 1754.4B
2. The MTF or network provider has the capacity to accept new patients
3. The MTF or network provider treats the diagnosed condition
4. The network provider accepts TRICARE Prime 5. Complex educational requirements may
warrant additional research, coordination, and communication to support the transition

Marine Corps Community Services - Program Spotlight
Marine Corps Family Team Building The mission of the Marine Corps Family Team Building Program at Henderson Hall is to provide programs and services to encourage personal growth and strengthen the family for continual readiness. These programs are free of charge. We face a unique challenge here at Henderson Hall because the Marines and the families we serve are spread throughout the National Capital Region. However, we strive everyday to reach out to those families whether they come here to us or we go to their commands to reach them. Marine Corps Family Team Building is comprised of six programs aboard Henderson Hall. Visit their website to see all the services they offer: http://mccshh.com/mcftb.html.
