On behalf of the Emirates Orthopaedic Society Board of the Emirates Medical As-sociation, it is a great honor and privilege to welcome you in Dubai, The United ArabEmirates for the “3rd Emirates International Orthopaedic Congress”, April 30th toMay 2nd, 2015.

Cannon Leslie
Dr Cannon is a UK trained consultant trauma and orthopaedic surgeon. He is English and studied medicine inLondon qualifying in 1991. He underwent a general surgical training obtaining the FRCS in 1997 before startinghigher training in orthopaedic surgery.
Dr Cannon underwent specialist foot and ankle training in Oxford (UK) and Sydney (Australia) before being ap-pointed as a consultant in 2004. He spent 10 years working at Portsmouth NHS Trust on the south coast ofEngland before his appointment to Mafraq in 2013. He is the Chair of Orthopaedics.

Christel Pascal
Professor Pascal Christel is a former professor at Paris Didier Diderot University. For more than 30 years hisactivity is focused on sports and knee surgery. In France he was a pioneer in arthroscopy and performed hisfirst case in 1980. Since then he has perform more than 10,000 Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) and other lig-aments reconstructions. He has trained many residents and fellows and is a member of most of the prestigiousinternational orthopedics, sports medicine and arthroscopy societies. He was also a pioneer in the field of dou-ble-bundle ACL reconstruction and is one of the fathers of the first double bundle instrumentation which hasbeen available on the market. His practice is not limited to knee surgery but also covers all the other fields of
sports injuries and orthopedics. He is a reviewer for the main international sports medicine journals and a former board member of severalFrench and European societies. For years he has organized and chaired many international surgical meetings. He has produced numerouspeer review articles and book chapters and currently has around 100 papers listed by PubMed.
Dahl Benny
Benny Dahl is an orthopaedic surgeon who has 20 years experience in spine surgery. In 2007 he was appointedthe first full clinical professor in spine surgery at the University of Copenhagen and since 2010 he has contributedto the establishment of the first combined spine unit in Denmark with both orthopaedic surgeons and neurosur-geons serving half of Denmark with highly specialized spine surgery. Benny Dahl is an active member of theSRS and was local host of the IMAST meeting in 2011 in Copenhagen. He has served as a member of the pro-gram committee at IMAST2012 and 2013 and currently serves as a member of the SRS-program committee. His main surgical interest is around the knee with more than 700 surgeriesperformed yearly. His researches have been focused mainly in sports medicine and specifically in complex knee injures. In 2005he worked as the Deputy Director of Orthopaedics at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. He was theDirector of Orthopaedics at the Ipswich General Hospital for 4 years from 2006 - 2010. Dr. K Venugopal Menon graduated from the Armed Forces Medical College in India in 1979. After a 5 year stintin the Indian Army Medical Corps he took his Masters in Orthopaedic Surgery from the same institution. Duringthis period he had the opportunity to train in the reputed Spine center at Military Hospital, Kirkee, Pune. He sub-sequently underwent training in the UK and took the MCh degree from Liverpool University in 1992. Dr Menonunderwent the AO fellowship in Zurich University Hospital and also spent time at many premier Spine Centersin Europe including Edinburgh (Princess Margaret Rose hospital), St Gallen (Canton Hospital), Berck Sur Mer(Institut Calot) before he returned to India. I received my initial training with Albert TRILLAT and being a former pupil of Henri DEJOUR, it was quite naturalthat in 1988 I devoted my activity on knee surgery.
I was nominated Professor First Class at the University of Lyon in 1994 and head of the department at the CroixRousse Hospital in 1996.
My main activity is clinical. I treat an equal number of sports lesions and degenerative pathologies of the knee.The many publications, books, CD-Roms reflect this clinical research activity. For my work on the results after
meniscectomy, I received the “John Joyce Award” by International Arthroscopy in 1989.
In 1995, I participated in the ESSKA-AOSSM “Traveling Fellowship”. In 2002-2004, 2008, 2010 and 2012, I was involved in the organization of the “Journées de Chirurgie du genou” devoted to the athlete’’knee or/and prosthesis knee.
As a professor, I am responsible for four academic formations in France: knee pathology, arthroscopy, sports medicine and rugby.I am member of several medical societies and I am an active participant in the SOFCOT, ESSKA 2000, and EFORT as member at large andISAKOS as First Vice President.
