Hi my name is Sheryl Schall I am a resident ofLogan and Ive lived here for over 20 years. Crocheting isnot only a hobby of mine but Ive started my own businessselling my crocheted product. My business name is FineTextiles. I started crocheting as a little girl, I always lovedvisiting my grandmother and seeing the new doilies shehad made and wanted to be able to do the same quality ofwork that she did.
As an adult I decided to follow through with that wishand not only taught myself the correct way of making eachstitch but also how to read patterns and the abbreviations
used in those patterns. I love to teach crocheting andhave taught my daughter and a few family members howto crochet. I have attended a few of the local festivals thisyear and am getting to be known as the Crochet Lady.
I have been given the opportunity to teachcrocheting at the Hocking Hills Messenger. I would loveto be able to teach as many people as I can how to dothe same quality of work that I have achieved. In order todo crochet especially with the thin cotton thread and smallhooks you need to have a great deal of patience and overthe years I have been able to acquire the patience neededto do ne intricate work.
I have been crocheting for over 30 years now and
Im sure that I can not only teach crocheting but also thene intricate work for doilies, curtains, and table runners. So please come see me at Hocking Hills Messenger I wouldlove to teach you all that I have learned over the years. Tosetup an appointment, call the Hocking Hills Messenger at740-380-3744.

Last issue: I coveredhow shopping Fair Trade= equals fair pay for theartisan and farmer andhow it protects children. Here are two morereasons why shopping
Fair Trade is so very important.
Fair Trade strives to alleviate poverty and createsustainable development by creating opportunities forproducers who have been economically disadvantagedor marginalized by the conventional trading systems. Many Fair Trade Cooperatives reinvest their revenues tostrengthen their businesses and communities such as:Building health clinics, houses, starting scholarship funds, and providing leadership training for the artisans.
Gender Equity: Fair Traders emphasize of the value of
the work women perform, as producers and as organizationleaders. Women and men are paid equally for comparablework. Sixty percent of the worlds 50 million working poorare women according to the U. N. Conference on Tradeand Development. Women devote twice as much time tounpaid work as men do. They represent the majority ofthe worlds part time and informal sector workers and suffermore unemployment than men do. Fair Trade strives toeliminate these problems.
There are several places in the Logan area to buyFair Trade items. The Appalachian Art and Craft Mall inRockbridge, Hocking Hills Craft Mall and the Messenger &Print Shops Gift Section.
Lets help spread happiness by buying Fair Trade!
