Do the kittens appear ill or injured?
Trap-Neuter-Return-Monitor
(TNRM)Once kittens are over
2 months old, it can be difficult to socialize them
to humans. Using the TNRM strategy will set them up for long and
healthy lives outdoors. Acting quickly is key
to control the growing population of cats in your neighborhood. The ASPCA may be able to help with TNRM for outdoor cats in
your neighborhood.
Please visit aspca.org/ElMonte
for more information.

will be able to walk, run and play.(See images at top of this page.)
Are the kittens over two months of age?
Orphaned Kitten CareThese kittens seem to be orphaned and
will need a foster home to care for them. Hopefully
that is you! Please complete the form at aspca.org/ElMonteKittens to receive help caring for the kittens until
they are old enough for adoption.

Provide Food & Shelter
and Monitor Mother cats will provide the best
care for their kittens. Provide food, a dry,
clean shelter and continue to monitor
their well-being. Prepare a Trap-Neuter-Return-Monitor (TNRM)
plan for mom and her kittens. If mom and/or her kittens
are friendly, you can Find Loving Homes
for them.
TIP: Mom may be out getting food or waiting for you to leave. If you cannot monitor the kittens for a few hours to see if mom returns, you can make a decision based on their current condition. If the kittens are clean, plump and quiet, then mom is likely taking good care of the kittens and
you can leave them where they are or move them to a safer space where mom can still find them. If the kittens are dirty, very skinny, sick and/or
crying excessively, they might need Orphaned Kitten Care.
