INNOVATIVE AGEING CONFERENCE
Gerontological Association of Malaysia (GeM) was founded in 1991 with the aim of promoting national awareness on old age and ageing issues and concerns. It is a professional fraternity of ind-ividuals who are working in or interested with the field of gerontology – a multi-disciplinary discipline that examines the biological, medical, psychological, social, economic, cultural, technology and environmental aspects of human ageing. GeM is a registered body with the Registrar of Societies and is managed by an elected Executive Committee. GeM is affiliated with the Inte-rnational Association of Ger-ontology and Geriatrics (IAGG).
Founded in 1986, the Malaysian Invention and Design Society (MINDS) is the largest body in Malaysia representing indi-viduals, universities and com-panies who pursue excellence in invention, creativity, inn-ovation, research and dev-elopment, and industr ia l design.
MINDS is responsible for promoting high standards of invention and design, fostering professionalism and enc-ouraging continuing prof-essional development amongst its members.
MINDS is a member of the I n t e r n a t i o n a l F e d e r a t i o n o f Inventors’ Association (IFIA).
Organisers
Rapid population ageing has resulted in an influx of science and technologies in health and science that offer innovative solutions for older people. This conference will focus on the future of care to support active ageing, smart health technologies, socio-environmental innovations within homes, facilities or municipalities. This is aimed not only to improve wellbeing and life expectancy of older people but also promote successful ageing-in-place. It will provide a platform to showcase how the multi-dimensional needs and priorities of older persons can be enhanced by modern innovations and solutions created by established and emerging scientists in the field.
Objectives: 1. To increase awareness and provide information on current advancements of
science and technology in the areas of health and social environments. 2. To showcase innovations in health, social and environmental technologies that
enhance the wellbeing of older persons. 3. To provide practical, affordable and sustainable solutions in the day to day
living of older persons.

THEME: ADVANCES, INNOVATIONS AND SOLUTIONS FOR OLDER PERSONS
iAGE INNOVATION COMPETITION
Introduction
The Innovation Competition is held concurrently with the iAGE Conference for industry
players, undergraduates, post-graduates and young innovators to showcase new
innovations which can improve the quality of life of the older persons.
Objectives
1. To stimulate new Ideas, Innovations & Inventions (3i’s) for older persons.
2. Encouraging more interaction between older persons and the younger generation.
Eligibility and Criteria
1. Any idea, innovation or invention that potentially improves the quality of life of the older
persons.
2. New innovation or innovative application of old inventions.
3. Open to both local and overseas innovators.
Participation
1. Submit an abstract of 300 words on the idea, innovation or invention.
2. Submission Fee: RM 800 per entry.
3. Deadline: 20 February 2020.
4. Each submission is entitled to one (1) conference seat for both days and a certificate of
participation.
Winning Entries
1. The judges will shortlist and announce the Top 20 applicants who will continue to the next
round by 26 March 2020.
2. For the Top 20 applicants, complimentary exhibition space will be provided for
showcasing the invention/ innovation.
3. The Top 5 will be chosen from the Top 20 on the first day of the conference.
4. The Top 5 will be given 10 minutes to present in the conference on the second day.
5. The Top 3 will receive medals and certificates of award.
6. All winners will have the opportunity to be mentored by experienced innovators.
