Infinite.

The number of people, places, things

or with which

I relate in a single day –

with

who

m

infinite.

Each a tiny oasis

or massive annexation

of energy, matter, space.

Each defined within its own spheres of reference, its own parameters, its own possibilities.

Each the possibility of something more for me, something better, something else—

the perfect vista, partner, scent, opportunity—

the chance to break free

of what is and fly into

what may be

if only I can work it right. Make it so.

Pause….

Launched into the abyss of my endless need,

this oasis of holy,

this sacred element,

this sacrament of space

is denied

its truth.

Pull it back. Haul it out. Do not let it fall into

my own greed and lust for more

but let it stand for the beauty that it is—

free of my demands,

my needs, my desires.

May I look and see

not it,

but something holier than I

might ever imagine

and so fall, once again, into love.
