IB Speak
• IA – Internal Assessment: Assessment completed in the school and submitted to IB for moderation. Usually about 20% of Final IB grade
• External Assessment: Assessment marked by IB. Usually about 70% of final IB grade.

IB Speak• Certificate Candidates: Students registered in IB
Program, but not taking all the requirements for the IB Diploma
• Diploma Candidates: Students registered in their final year of the program taking all the requirements for the IB Diploma.
• Anticipated Candidates: Students registered in their first year of the program and expecting to take all the requirements for the IB Diploma.

• Higher Level (HL): Courses offered in more depth and at a higher degree of difficulty -240 hours
• Standard Level (SL): Courses offered in less depth - 150 hours
• ab initio: Introductory language level
