National ICT Policy• The Government of the Lao PDR recognizes the Information
and Communication Technology as an increasingly crucial tool for achieving socio-economic development, aims to bring the country into the information age by increasing general access to ICT with the provision of modern telecommunications infrastructure and computer networks; by fostering enterprise and industry; promoting research and development in the fields of ICT; and by developing the necessary human resources and institutional capacies
• It is with this recognition that the National Policy on ICT – aims to ensure that the necessary institutional, human capacity, sectoral conditions, and legal frameworks are in place for leveraging and applying ICT to meet the challenges and needs of Lao PDR

ICT Market in Laos• Around 400 internet cafes in Vientiane, around 600 in
nationwide• ICT-related business increased from 103 to 513 companies
in 2005• In 2006, 196 new companies were registered, around more
than 1000 in 2008
• ICT companies employ 3688 employees (1.1% of the total work force
• Hardware service 60 million USD• IT service 12 million USD

• Establish e-Gov. info-com infrastructure :
- IP backbone, 2.5 Gbps capacity connect national e-Gov. center to tel. operator and major ministries

- 10 WiMAX base stations cover 20 Km2
