Participant’s Notes: Frederick Herzberg, in his book entitled Work and the Nature of Man, 1966, observed that satisfaction and dissatisfaction always arose from different factors. Certain factors truly motivate whereas others (hygienetruly motivate, whereas others (hygiene factors), if not present, tend to lead to dissatisfaction.
What surprised his readers most was the notion that salary was not a motivator!
