1. Introduction
1.1 About this manual
This manual explains how to operate the online residence application system.
In this manual, the operations are explained using the following figures and drawings.
This indicates the part (scope) of the screen that the user is able to
operate such as click and input. It also indicates the part (scope) that
the user is to check.
In the explanation of the buttons and fields on the screen, the number
of the drawings and tables are linked and indicate which part is being
explained. The number is positioned on the left or in the upper left
corner of the red box. When a description on the input screen is
partially omitted, it will be described as “Omitted”.
Please note the letters, characters, etc. entered in the screen are all
examples.
If you have any problems, please check the Frequently Asked Questions (Q&A) or contact the
Help Desk.

1.3 System requirements
The online residence application system requires the following environment. Please note that
operation cannot be guaranteed using other environments.
- Required browser: Google Chrome (ver72)
- Required program (when using the blanket application information input file): Microsoft Office
Excel 2013
In addition, since emails will be sent by the online residence application system to your
registered email address, please check your settings to ensure emails from the following domain can
be received.
@ ras-immi.moj.go.jp
In addition, please be aware that if the screen is inactive for a certain period of time (30 minutes
or more), the online residence application system will require you to log in once again (session
timeout).

However, if the contents on the front of the residence card and the content

“Search” button Please click the “Search” button and select the residence (prefecture or city),

“Deletion” button If you have clicked the “Add to” button and no longer need the information
you have entered, please click the Deletion button.

2. Basic Operation
2.1 Password registration (initial setting)
These are the steps to register the password that you will use when you log in to the online
residence application system.
In order to follow the application procedures using the online residence application system, you
will have to submit a request for use in advance at the counter of the regional immigration services
office that has jurisdiction over the location of the organization of affiliation. If the request for use is
approved, the user’s information will be registered in the online residence application system
(hereinafter referred to as “user registration”), and you will receive an email enabling you to
proceed to the password registration screen.
After you have received the above email, you will be able to use the online residence application
system by completing the password registration (initial setting).

● About the password
The password is case sensitive. Moreover, the password must not
contain the Authentication ID letter string. Set and manage the
password by yourself. Please note that the password is not written in
any emails sent by the Immigration Services Agency.
In the password field, all of the letters will be displayed with asterisks “●”.
In order to check the password you have entered, it is recommended that you
first enter the password in a memo or other file, confirm that it is the correct
password, and then copy and paste it into the password field.
