OSSUP background• Oilseed sub sector platform (OSSUP)
launched the oilseed multi stakeholder processes (supported by AgriProFocus) IN 2007
• Since then regional platforms facilitated by SNV, 2009: policy dialogue, learning events IFAD/VODP, 2010: Mt Meru, enters the processing industry till 2011.
• 2011: SNV-IFAD 5-year partnership agreement is signed
Why OSSUP• To provide a neutral platform for public
dialogue, information sharing, and coordinated actions in developing oilseeds subsector.
• This phase of OSSUP (2012-2016) is promoting competitiveness and inclusive business growth in oilseeds subsector. Focus is on empowering and including smallholders into market opportunities provided by lead firms and SMEs.

Key OSSUP Achievements
• Facts and figures about the sub sector are being generated (Piloted farmer registry in Oyam district)-300 Farmers registered.
• Rural Information system developed for farmers esp. DFAs like Moyo, Apef Nebbi.
• Capacity strengthening services in Export Advisory Services by CBI. 12 Companies audited and in the program
• OSSUP has prioritized the vegetable oil sub-sector challenges for redress e.g. National Seed Production Policy Framework discussed and validated.
• Project Steering Committee member for VODP2
• Business relationships e.g. Producers (10,000)and Equator Seeds Ltd (4100kgs of Soybean sold and 7436 kgs of Soybean )in Lira and (900 kgs sesame II foundation seed)West Nile Hubs, Exporter and farmers Gulu and Lira, and processors and Farmers in Mbale Hub.
• Drafted the oilseed subsector dashboard and indicators for annual sector performance review of the oilseed sub-sector
