● 120 Km^2 – mostly woodland.● Less than 500 residents (of which 90% in three villages) in 3
Km^2, and five plumbers● Until 1974, one of the main transit points from Siena to Grosseto● Hosts one of the two kaolin quarries in Italy● Hosts three natural conservation areas● Not far from very famous tourist attractors (Siena, Montalcino,
Petriolo Springs), but in fact ignored by mainstream tourism● About sixty residents are players of an ancient hand ball game● The valley is in one of the three areas in Italy with the least light
pollution● Part of the movie “Tragica Notte” was shot in Torniella in 1942● Most of the people in Piloni have Bartalucci as a surname
