Quantum information theory is a rediscussion of quantum mechanics in an information theoretical contextand at the same time a generalization of classical information theory to the quantum world. This series oflectures gives an introduction to the mathematical and conceptual foundations of this theory, and to themost important quantitative questions. Concepts to be discussed here include: states and observables, information, entropy, entanglement, classical and quantum channels, positive and completely positive maps, error correction, channel capacities, distillation of entanglement, and entanglement measures.
