Welcome back everyone! The year 2015 has some exciting shows coming up this year. Also keep an eye out in you inbox for the Show Schedule and entry forms. These have been changed so the new forms need to be used and not the old ones. WARCI Committee Trophy Show Our first show for the year is the WARCI Committee Trophy Show on Sunday the 29 March 8am, with Judge Rowland McDonnell. This is a new trophy show that the committee has put together for the first time this year. Rowland is from NSW breeder with experience in many different breeds. Please get you entries in early but remember cut of is Monday the 23 March 5 pm no exceptions. Also on the 29 March Hill Rabbit Club is holding a 1 star show with Judge Jo Sutton. Jo is one of WA’s own and favorites.
Fundraising Melanie has been working hard again and is in need of volunteers for the sausage sizzle and pat a bunny outside of Bunning’s Mandurah on Saturday 4 April. Please contact Mel if you can lend a hand even if it’s just for an hour. Many hands make light work.
Rings Toni Page is our ring registrar. Please see Toni in regards to purchasing rings, transfer of rings or anything related to rings. Toni will except emailed or posted ring requests. Please no Face booking requests. Also remember to use the Ring order form and to get your form in by 5pm the Monday before a show or earlier for your rings to be available next show (if in stock). Posting is available at a cost of $2.

Remember to plan ahead rings are ordered from the UK so take a couple of weeks to arrive. Avoid disappointment don’t leave your ordering to the last minute.
Schedule This year, same as every year the committee has made a few changes to the show schedule. Why you may ask? Every year a list of which breeds, colours were shown for the previous year are tabled at the first committee meeting. Some colour classes need to be added because of the large numbers shown, some need to be decreased because of the lack of number shown. Some new breeds are developed or are taken on by members. Attached on page 2 is a list of previous breeds shown over the years to give you an idea.
Online Protocol The committee asks all members to be polite and courteous online. Complaining or putting down of member or the club will not be tolerated. If any member has an issue to address we urge you to take the appropriate channels of resolution. 1) Contact a committee member of your choice. 2) Write a letter, email. All concerns will be raised at the next up coming committee meeting. Please note that the committee meets once a month. Advertise your Stud For Just $15 a year you can advertise your stud. Please contact Bec on 0419191081

Showing For The New Exhibitor When you arrive at the show you will be asked to wait outside until your rabbit/s have been vet checked. Once cleared you will be able to take them into the hall where Nadine or Toni will provide you with a penning in slip. On this slip it lists your exhibits along with the cage number the rabbit are to go into. You are asked to provide a carpet for the bottom of the cage; these can be purchased from Jody at Accessories table. All rabbits are asked to be penned no later than 8.45am, so Judging may commence on time. Rabbits once penned are not permitted to be removed from cages, unless the Judge has called their pen number to come to the table. If for some reason you need to remove your exhibit from the cage you need to ask permission form Nadine our Show Manager or Toni our Show Secretary. To avoid elimination from the days competition.
2
Cage doors may be open to clean up poo of carpets during the day. At no point during the day are competitors to identify their own or another exhibitors rabbits owners identity to the Judge. Whilst stewarding you may be asked to steward your own rabbit or another exhibitors rabbit. Pen numbers are generally given out at random to Stewards by the Book Steward. Please do your best to pose the rabbit correctly whether it is yours or not. New stewards are encouraged and please don’t be afraid to say to the Judge I am new to stewarding please correct me if I pose this rabbit incorrectly. Stewarding is where you learn and keeps the day interesting. Get your hands on all breeds not just your breed there is so much to learn. Who knows you might fall in love with something else.
Colour Genetics
Colour Genetics, some people love it, some people just don’t get it even after 20yrs, but know that if they breed that rabbit to that rabbit I’ll get that colour. Remembering first build your house (Type) then paint it (Colour). WARCI library is open to members to borrow books. I strongly recommend “Colour Inheritance in Small Livestock” by Roy Robinson.

Kids Corner Answers 1) False: Rabbits are lagomorphs. 2) False: Carrots have a lot of sugar and should be given as a treat only 3) False: Rabbits also have back teeth (molars) that you can’t see because their mouths are small 4) False: Rabbits need exercise so they can stretch their long legs. They need to run in a ‘bunny-proofed’ safe area 5)False: Every rabbit is different no matter which it looks like and large rabbits can be just as friendly as small rabbits 6)(False: Rabbits are very clean animals.
