From Msgr. Frank Chiodo
Friends,
This is Epiphany Sunday, the three kings traveled far to come and worship the Savior. They
sought the Savior because they knew they needed to be saved. Wise Men and Wise Women
still seek him today. Wise Men and Wise Women understand how powerless we are without
God in our lives. Just talk to someone who is dealing with an addiction or one kind or another.
The first step to overcoming the power the addiction has over the person is to admit we are
powerless over the addiction—and need a power the greater than ourselves to restore us to
sanity—and to find true peace. That power is Jesus Christ, only Savior and Lord. While we may
not consider ourselves addictive personalities, just recall to mind the fact that we are all sinners—and sin is a form of
spiritual addiction. The Wise Men knelt and worshipped the newborn King. If we want to know true inner peace and
serenity, we have to turn our lives and our wills over to the power Christ—Savior and Lord.
How wise are we?? Wise Men and Wise Women still seek him.
I am on retreat until Friday. Say one for me. I will for thee. Amen.
Have you noticed the new statue? It is in honor of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini. She is a patron Saint of Italian immi-
grants and by extension Patroness of all immigrants. The statue is donated in memory of Mary Rose Quinn, daughter of
Bob and Lucille Quinn. Mary was a pillar of our parish. Mary wrote a book on our parish (to be published) and worked to
have our parish named to the National Historic registry—come Lord Jesus.
Take a look and read the beautiful plaque below. Thanks to the Quinn family for the donation of this beautiful statue
which honors Mary’s memory and which commemorates the long list of stalwart Italian immigrants who came to our
parish during the last century and who laid the foundation of our great parish.
Have a blessed week.
