FIWARE OFFER
“With FIWARE, you don’t have to worry about fixing basic problemsthat others have already solved, but can focus on developing the
specifics of your bright idea.”Neelie Kroes, Former Vice-President of the European Commission
“The Generic Enablers and FIWARE Lab supportand add value to our entire infrastructure.”
Christoph Müller-Dechent, CEO of FoodLoop
“FIWARE is about lowering the barriers to innovation”Juan José Hierro, FIWARE Coordinator and Chief Architect
"FIWARE is going to have a very important role. It is going to provide all companies with a common platform so we develop solutions all across
Europe and, hopefully, all across the world"Víctor Calvo-Sotelo, Spanish Secretary of State of
Telecommunications & Information Society
THE OPEN PLATFORMFOR THEFUTURE INTERNET
WHAT DOES FIWARE OFFER?
FIWARE assembles a set of building blocks that ease creation of smart Internet Applications. These blocks are called Generic Enablers and are ready available and ready to use. They offer reusable and common shared functions serving multiple use cases in various sectors
GENERIC ENABLERS1The FIWARE Lab is an example of FIWARE instance available as a free
experimentation environment where developers can build their applications using available FIWARE GEri instances, or dedicated instances they can deploy on their own. It not only allows them to experiment with FIWARE technologies,
but test and showcase their applications with real data and users, making it easier to catch the attention of potential customers and investors.
FIWARE Lab 2
FIWARE Ops is the suite of tools that will ease creation and operation of FIWARE instances based on the federation of
FIWARE nodes. It has been used to build and to support the expansion of the FIWARE Lab worldwide.

But FIWARE is only the first step to the future of your project, we need you to join us and be part of the new digital revolution
that is coming! Welcome to FIWARE, welcome to progress.
Same as in early 90s, the Web lead to the so called e-Business transformation, a new digital revolution is now taking place that will lead to a new generation of context-aware applications hostedon the Cloud, connected to the Internet of Things and capable of processing BigData and Media Content atlarge scale
Businesses and organizations longing to stay in the limelight must now get on board this train or they will inevitably run out of business, substituted by those who did grasp this opportunity in a global competitive market. And it is in that context that FIWARE is framed, easing existing businesses and organizations as well as entrepreneurs to capture the wave.
FIWARE is an open platform that offers a rich library of components to build and manage innovative apps and services upon an enhanced OpenStack cloud. It provides open APIs with open source reference implementations that ease the creation of complex processes, such as connection to the Internet of Things or handling large amounts of data. Its architecture is aimed at making projects created in a cost effective way, with security guarantees and quality of service. fiware.org ops.fiware.orglab.fiware.org

• Costs presented are an indicative average (salaries and taxation are different in each country)
• System admin salary costs: based on a European average of 45000 €yearly salary
• Maintenance: 10% of the total hardware budget per year• Site facilities (air-conditioning, rent, connectivity …) was extrapolated
from one site, based on 250€ per compute core per year• Power consumption was assumed to be 1kW per hour per server at a cost
of 0.12€ and 24/7 operation
