Diaz Lake Diaz lake is a sag pond. It was created from the shifts of the tectonic plates from nearby Lone Pine Fault. The Earthquakes made the ground uneven and water settled to the lowest point.

In 1872 a large earthquakes was cause by vertical and right- lateral displacement along the fault. The quake caused much destruction to the surrounding towns. It was responsible for 29 deaths and led the formation of Diaze Lake
