JSS PS students participate in Charity Fun Fair.
Nimal Kumar and Rishit Gotecha of Grade 4 C got an opportunity to participate in
the Charity Fun Fair that was organized by the children of Safiya Building in Hor Al Anz, Dubai on Friday, 8th April, 2016.
Once they were made aware of the event, both of them earnestly started preparing for keeping a game stall called “Deal or No Deal”. They purchased 10 plastic
boxes for playing the game and then started wrapping around sixty gift items from
their own collections. Once, they were ready they carried out rehearsals for conducting the game.
On the appointed day, they arrived at Al Safiya Building at 4 PM as the event was
to start at 5 PM and end at 9 PM. They organized the stall with the help of their parents and eagerly awaited for the first customers to arrive.
Lots of children were curious to know how the game is played. So, they both explained in detail the rules of the games and slowly all the children started
playing the game enthusiastically. The cost of each game was AED 5 in printed
vouchers and almost all of the children who played the game walked away with one gift. The gifts varied based on the points each child scored during the game.
The mega prize was won by at least 10 out of the total 50 children who participated
in the event. It was good to see them hard selling their game to all people who visited their stall.
In the end, around 9 PM, they generated around AED 250/- and the entire amount
was handed over to the organizers of the charity fun fair. The proceeds from the Charity fun fair will be provided to Care2Share, which is an initiative by Medulla
events to support the blue collared and low salaried workers living in the industrial zones of Dubai and Sharjah. As part of Care2Share, every Friday morning, the
team visits various labour camps across Dubai and Sharjah to distribute raw food,
cooked food, toiletries, clothes to the low income group.
The organisers of the Charity Fun fair were very happy and appreciated the kind
gesture of the Nimal and Rishit by making an appreciation announcement to all the
people. Both were ably assisted by Nimal’s elder brother, Nanda Kumar who studies in Grade 9 D.
