KABOLOIN WATER PROJECT (DESIGN REPORT)
1.0 Consumer Population Projection
Annual growth rate of 2.4 % (Source:- 2009 population census) shall be used for population projection. Annual growth rate for livestock unit is 2% and
will be projected to the future period and then assumed to remain constant. The development in educational facilities should be based on the existing
situation, the plans of Ministry of Education and the projected growth of the population.

Population projection
Pf=Pp (1+r) n
Where
Pf- is future population.
Pp- is present population.
r- is rate of annual population growth.
n- is the number of years under consideration.
1.1 Consumer water demand projections.
The total water demand for the various classes of consumers has been based on the water consumption patterns spelt out in the Ministry of Water and
Irrigation practice manual 2005.

A. Demand for the total population
The Ultimate water demand is 155,471l/d
Demand per hour for the total population;
=Total ultimate water demand/ (12) =
= 12.96 M
3/Hr. =3.6l/s
B. HYDRAULIC DESIGN
Velocity range, V= 0.6≤V≤1.5
The altitude at storage tank at Kapcheptoror water treatment site = 2135M
The altitude of proposed Kondamet tank site= 2055M
Therefore difference in elevation between the intake point and tank site = 80M
The distance between two points = 13800M
From Colebrook Nomograph formulae deduced size piping:
Gravity main head, H = (2135-2055) = 80M
Ground masonry tank = 3 M
⸫ For PVC/GI pipes;
/100 x 13,800
= 358.8m
/100 x 13,800
= 524.4M
⸫ For PVC/GI pipes;
=0.35, G.I= 0.49
Page 4 of 14
/100 x 13,800
= 48.3M
/100 x 13,800
= 67.62M
Therefore,
Selecting the UPVC 3’’ pipe size
Total residual head= 80-48.3-3= 28.7 M.
Therefore water will flow by gravity.
1. Proposed Size storage tank
C = 0.03 x D x (T2)
Where:-
C = Tank capacity in m3
D = Total water demand in litres/day
T = Longest dry spell in months, average year
Stored water to last for seven days
=0.03*96750*(2.52)*7
=126,984.375 Litre tank Say 100 M 3 ground masonry storage tank.
2. Proposed distribution network.
The proposed distribution lines will be in 2’’ pipe network. This averaged to 4 Km.
