AbstractCurrent Kenyan stoves create harmful
emissions, which is leading to death by smoke inhalation. Therefore we created a stove that is a revision of the original Kenyan Jiko that will now consist of an aluminum coating shell, a 1:1 ratio of clay to non-clay, and will run on biomass fuel, wood, or charcoal. By making these specific changes, we will decrease emissions, fuel used, and cooking time.

Engineering Analysis Working Mechanism
1) Place fuel on in upper chamber2) Light the fuel
1) Combustion occurs1) Air will flow through bottom
where there is a slit and door3) Fuel burns4) Heats food in pot on top of Jiko5) Ashes fall through holes in clay
to bottom6) Recover waste

Engineering AnalysisCost Analysis
Cheap long lasting aluminum coating – aluminum is recyclable and also is durable.
1:1 ratio of clay to non-clay – this is the most durable form of clay and it can with withstand the most heat.
Biomass Fuel – get a lot for a low cost because of its high energy generation, it is also a prevalent resource
Wood Fuel – very prevalent resource therefore cheap Charcoal – where biomass and wood are scarce, charcoal
is the cheapest substitute Business – current builders of Jiko can still produce
without going through a vigorous learning process The cost will be between 4 and 5 dollars
