KHIMA 2015 Annual Meeting
Dear KHIMA Member,
The Education Committee and Board of Directors hope that you will join us this year at the KHIMA 2015 Annual
Meeting. This event allows us to come together to learn from both experts and each other, to celebrate, and to
promote the HIM profession and KHIMA.
This year, our theme is “Get on the Bus!” The HIM profession is rapidly evolving, taking a new direction, and
sending HIM professionals down new roads. To remain leaders in HIM, we must adapt to the changes in the
profession and the KHIMA Board of Directors want to assist our members in getting on the bus so we can take this
exciting ride together.
The agenda consists of a wide variety of current and emerging HIM/HIT topics and we have an excellent lineup of
speakers. There will definitely be something of interest for everyone.
Get on the bus with us at the KHIMA 2015 Annual Meeting!

Silent Auction
Each year, KHIMA hosts a silent auction during the Annual Meeting. All earnings help fund our academic scholarships. Last year, KHIMA was able to award three $1,500.00 scholarships to HIM students in the state. The 2014 auction raised more than $1500.00. With the cost of tuition and textbooks rising, we hope to raise even more money this year. Donating an item to the Silent Auction is an outstanding opportunity to support the future of the HIM profession. If you would rather make a monetary donation to the scholarship fund, that can be done in-person during the meeting or online anytime by clicking here. If you would like to donate an item to the Silent Auction or if you have questions contact:

Content on the Homecare Front
Linda Kamer, RHIA

Among critical health challenges facing societies worldwide is the rising cost of disease due to aging populations also called the “silver tsunami.” As a result, there is a growing desire to drive evidence-based best practices across populations to engage patients more effectively and to share patient-related
care information across all stakeholder groups.
There is also a move to capitalize on the emerging consumerization trend in health to empower people, regardless of economic status, to take charge of their own health and reduce or eliminate hospital stays for chronic disease management. Such possibilities are becoming realities with emerging technologies. Learn how communities are using technology to support clinicians and mobile care workers to improve work processes and patient care across the continuum.
