They needed help to build houses, make roads, plant crops, catch fish and game to eat
They traded cotton cloth, beads, and metal They had to do without sugar, flour, and tea in
the beginning so they learned how to eat the way the Native Americans taught them
Oglethorpe named the city Savannah; he named the state Georgia after King George

Mary Musgrove was married to a man with a trading post, John Musgrove
She was born to a Native American mother and a white father who went away
She had lived near settlers in another part of the country
She spoke good English so she helped Oglethorpe talk to other Native Americans
She was an interpreter. She traveled with Oglethorpe to help him
make treaties.
