APRIL 2nd, 2017 - 5th SUNDAY OF LENT, YEAR A
This week we really see two sides of Jesus: the hu-man Jesus and the divine Jesus. We see him sodeeply moved by how much people loved Lazarusand were mourning his death, weeping days later, but also the profound faith they had in the resur-rection and in Jesus. He cries with them in theirsorrow and despair. He loved Lazarus, too. Like-wise, Jesus loves you and me so much that heweeps alongside us in our own sorrows. Sometimeswe are so filled with grief and despair that we just want to crawl inside our own symbolic tombs. Wecan’t live that way, however; we must live for the
resurrection. Just as Jesus commanded Lazarus to come forth from the tomb, Jesus also commands us to step outside of our own proverbial tomb tocome out of our sorrows, resurrect our joy and befilled and renewed with hope.
