Who are we?Miyu: Japanese. Lived in Thailand and the Philippines until I was 5, and lived in Japan ever since. Only been to International Schools.
Melody: Swiss-Australian . Lived in Australia for 6 years of my life and has always attended International Schools, except in Australia.
Chantel le: British. Born in Holland. Lived most of my life in Cyprus. Always went to military schools until YIS.

The Effect of Language
Transactional- If you cannot speak the language of the area, then you may have trouble carrying out a task. Expressive- If you cannot speak the language of the area, then there may be a miscommunication while trying to express feelings/concerns
Social: if you cannot speak the language of the area, then you may have trouble making friends, fit into the community, and may not be accepted.
Self-communication: does not affect how you fit into a community
Perspectives on the difficulties of fitting into a
country completely alien to you.
Non-verbal Communications
Form of communication that does not involve the use of spoken language. The speaker and his or her use of the environment that have potential message value for the receiver generate it. It is both intentional and unintentional, however most speakers are not conscious of this.
