• Consumption of salmon in Mainland China was 70-80.000
tons in 2016.
• 2.900 tons came directly from Norway
– Approx. 18.000 tons could have come via transit country
• Seafood Council estimate that Norway’s marketshare in
fresh and frozen should be around 65 % (80 %
marketshare before 2011).
• In other words, under normal circumstances Norway’s
export of salmon to China should be around 45.000-
52.000 tons.
• Consumption of salmon in China is estimated to trippel by
2025 to 240.000 tons.
• Norway’s potential by 2025 should be
around 156.000 tons.
