1. The first step begins when I REVEAL MY HURT.
You’re never going to get well until you face your feelings straight on. Psalm 39:2-3 “I kept very quiet but I became even more upset. I became very angry inside, and as I thought about it, my anger burned.”
James 5:16 (MsgB) Make this your common practice: Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you can live together whole and healed. The prayer of a person living right with God is something powerful to be reckoned with.
2. If you want to get well you have to REPLACE OLD LIES WITH GOD’S TRUTH
Romans 12:2 “Let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.”
1PE 2:9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God's own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;
1 Peter 2:23 “When Jesus suffered, He did not threaten to get even. He left His case in the hands of God.”
Hebrews 12:15 “A bitter spirit is not only bad in itself but can also poison the lives of many others.”
1 Peter 1:3-5 (MsgB) What a God we have! And how fortunate we are to have him, this Father of our Master Jesus! Because Jesus was raised from the dead, we've been given a brand-new life and have everything to live for, [4] including a future in heaven—and the future starts now! [5] God is keeping careful watch over us and the future. The Day is coming when you'll have it all—life healed and whole.
1 Peter 1:21 (MsgB) It's because of this sacrificed Messiah, whom God then raised from the dead and glorified, that you trust God, that you know you have a future in God.
The principle is: Getting free and staying free means letting go of the past and moving into the present.
