Cathedral Quarter
Highlights include Lincoln Cathedral and Lincoln Castle.
Climb up the challenging and rather aptly named Steep Hill, recently named the greatest street in Britain.
Home to an abundance of specialist retail and gift shops, alongside a range of elegant restaurants and pubs in the Bailgate area. The Cathedral Quarter is set in a truly magical setting.
Cultural Quarter
A vibrant area within walking distance of the City Centre. Highlights include The Collection, The Usher Gallery, The Drill Hall and Theatre Royal.
At the heart of Lincoln City Centre, is the Cultural Quarter; an exciting hub of cafes, bars, theatres, galleries and museums which has benefited from over £20 million of inward investment in recent years.
The area is a hive of activity during the day and night, with lots of things to see and do.
High Street Quarter
A highlight in the high street quarter is the High Bridge; the oldest bridge in the UK which still has buildings on it. This houses a restaurant and tea room over looking the river Witham and the high street shops.
Lincoln is home to most of the county’s top retailers but it also boasts a wonderful array of quirky gift shops and individual businesses.
For those who require a break from shopping, there are several park areas located within a short walking distance of the city centre.
Brayford Quarter Water Front
A vibrant marina situated at the heart of Lincoln. With the university dominating one side of the waterfront and a range of bars, restaurants and facilities, including the Odeon cinema, on the other side.
During the day there is much to see and do, including boat trips to local nature spots and the Brayford Waterfront Trail. In the evenings the marina comes alive with bars and restaurants, catering for all tastes.
Lincoln - four quarters, one BIG day out and a whole lot of fun! Explore Lincoln
The medieval City of Lincoln is steeped in history and character. With famous landmarks such as the Cathedral and Castle set amongst the modern University building, high-street shops and award-winning local restaurants.
Although it’s easy to travel from one side of Lincoln to another, the city itself is divided into four quarters, with transport links between each. With many different attractions from bars and restaurants to museums and galleries, we recommend that you visit each quarter to fully appreciate all it has to offer.
Whether you live or work in Lincoln, or you’re visiting for a short or long stay, there are many ways to see our beautiful City. This visitor guide has been developed to inform you of bus routes, train services, cycle routes, walks and more. We’ll even encourage you to see Lincoln from a different perspective; perhaps on our Open Top Tour Bus or River Cruise starting in the Brayford Quarter.
We hope you find this guide useful for exploring Lincoln.
As well as reducing your carbon footprint, taking the train gives you time to work or to just relax and enjoy the scenery.
