Love Incarnated
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual
blessing in the heavenly
places in Christ, Eph 1:3
St Cyril of AlexandriaHumbled Himself for us
"The Word out of God the Father was called man, by nature is God, in that He partook of blood and
flesh like us. For thus was He seen of those on the earth, and not letting go what He was, but
assuming human nature like us, as perfect; yet in human nature
He also remained God and Lord of all, by nature and in truth
Begotten of God the Father.”
St Cyril of AlexandriaRestored Sonship
My Son are you, This day have I begotten you (Ps 2:7).
Him Who was God before ages and was begotten of Him, (the Father) says that He has this day begotten,
that is Him He may receive us into sonship, for the whole
human nature was in Christ, in that He was Man. On John
7:39
St Cyril of AlexandriaIn Him we gain !!!
So is the Father said to give the Spirit again to the Son Who has it
as His own Spirit, that we in Him may gain the Spirit. The
Only-Begotten therefore receives the Holy Spirit not for Himself, but having been mad man, He
had our Whole nature in Himself, that He might uplift it all trasnfashioning it unto its
first state . On Jn 7:39
St Cyril Of AlexandriaFor us in Himself
We see then that not for Himself did Christ receive the Spirit, but
rather for us in Himself, for all good things flow through
Him into us too. On Jn 7:39
St Cyril of AlexandriaHeavenly Food
God found man has been degraded to the animal level. Therefore He put Himself as food in the manger so that if we got rid of the beastly nature we
are uplifted to the level of understanding and consciousness,
befitting the human nature. By drawing closer to the manger, to his
special table, we do not find any material food but rather the heavenly
bread who is the living body.
How we can offer incarnated love
1)Believe it
2)Receive it
3)Enjoy it
4)Offer it
St. Maximos the Confessor (On Love no. 34)
A pure soul is one freed from passions and constantly delighted by divine love.
As the memory of fire does not warm the body, so faith
without love does not bring about the illumination of knowledge in the soul.
St. Ambrose
“Let us leave Herod, the one with earthly
authority for a limited time, and come to the eternal dwelling, to our heavenly city.”
