Applying Why is it beneficial to apply early?
• The LSU Flores MBA Program has generous but limited financial awards. Class sizes
are also fixed. Applicants are strongly urged to apply earlier rather than later.
When should I apply?
• Our final applica)on deadline is May 15 (January 25 for interna)onal students), but
we start receiving applica)ons in November of the previous year. We have four
decision dates. Due to limited financial awards and sea)ng, applicants are strongly
encouraged to submit their applica)ons as soon as they have decided to apply.
Applying (continued) Can I find out my applica0on status by calling the office?
• You may call the LSU Graduate School or the Flores MBA Program office at 225-‐578-‐8867 between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm (central )me).
Must I have all the prerequisites completed before I apply? Can I apply if I haven't taken the GMAT/TOEFL* yet?
• You may apply at any )me, but you cannot be admiOed un)l test scores have been submiOed to the Office of Graduate Admissions. Also, your file will not be reviewed un)l we have received the appropriate scores. Likewise, you may submit your references aUer applying. Sending all of your documents as early as possible, however, will increase your chances of being admiOed over other compe))ve candidates.

Admission criteria Which of the admission criteria is most important?
• The Admissions CommiOee considers each applica)on individually, selec)ng well-‐rounded candidates who demonstrate academic achievement, professionalism, placement prospects, and ability to succeed in the program. The following minimum admission requirements must be met: - A bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. ins)tu)on or the equivalent from a foreign ins)tu)on - A minimum grade-‐point average (GPA) of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) on all undergraduate work completed - An acceptable score on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) - Acceptance by the Flores MBA CommiOee Admissions Board - Previous work experience is desirable but not required for the full-‐)me program
Admission Do I need to have a degree in business administra0on or a similar major to be admi[ed to the LSU Flores MBA program?
• No, the undergraduate degree can be in any field. Forty-‐nine percent of our students hold non-‐business undergraduate degrees – including educa)on, engineering, journalism, geography, poli)cal science, criminal jus)ce, kinesiology, and history.
Is it possible to get admi[ed without work experience? • Yes, each year a considerable percent of applicants are admiOed immediately aUer
comple)ng their undergraduate degree. However, other aspects of your applica)on must be strong.
Are scholarships offered? • All accepted students are automa)cally considered for the scholarships awarded
through the E. J. Ourso College of Business. Scholarships are awarded based on need and/or prior academic performance.
GMAT How do I apply to take the GMAT?
• You can apply for the GMAT test at the official GMAT website
How should I prepare for the GMAT? • The official GMAT website provides free test-‐prep soUware and helpful test-‐taking
strategies. You can also purchase the official GMAT review guides from the website or at your local bookstore. There are many other companies that produce GMAT review literature, which can also be found at any bookstore. In addi)on, companies, such as the Princeton Review, offer classroom courses and tutoring programs to beOer prepare you for the GMAT. Please check with our office for possible GMAT test-‐prep courses.
Can my GRE score replace the GMAT requirement? • We will accept the GRE in lieu of the GMAT. The GMAT is preferred, but the GRE is
acceptable for admission purposes.
GMAT (continued) What is the minimum GMAT score you will accept?
• We prefer scores to be at least 600. For the past six years, the average score has varied between 610 and 650 in the Full-‐Time Flores MBA Program. The average GMAT scores for PMBA and EMBA students are typically not as high since they have been out of school longer and their work experience is factored into the admissions decision more heavily.
What is the GMAT/TOEFL ins0tu0on code for LSU? • The GMAT program code for the LSU Graduate School is 6373.
Credits and Classes Do you accept credits from other ins0tu0ons? From another LSU major?
• No, we do not accept credits from other ins)tu)ons. This means it is not possible to start your degree at one ins)tu)on and transfer to LSU. You need to start the program in the fall semester with the incoming class. Credits from other graduate programs at LSU are accepted on a case-‐by-‐case basis. Please call the office if you are in this posi)on and would like to discuss it further.
Can I take Flores MBA classes early? • No, you cannot take Flores MBA classes early.
How many credits will I need to complete the full-‐0me program? • There are 52 credit hours in the LSU Full-‐Time Flores MBA Program.
Credits and Classes (continued) How much of a 0me commitment is the Full-‐Time Flores MBA Program?
• Think of the full-‐)me Flores MBA experience as a full-‐)me job. Besides classes, you will spend a substan)al amount of )me outside of class working on team projects, aOending events, and becoming an ac)ve member of the Flores MBA Program.
Cohorts and Internships What is a cohort and how do I join one?
• When the program starts, full-‐)me Flores MBA students will be assigned to "cohorts," groups of 20-‐25 students. Your cohort becomes your community on campus, and you take all of your required courses together.
Do I have to complete a summer internship? • Internships are not required but strongly
recommended. A summer internship between your first and second years is an ideal opportunity to develop professional skills in a real business seqng, earn money, and secure network contacts and mentors for career development.
