MOVIES
The most outstanding films this year were:
y Twilights saga
y "Dawn"
y Tron,
y The king's speech
y
Thory River
y Fast and furious 5
y Iron man
y Prince of Persia
y Harry potter 7 Part1
But without doubt the movies that reminded us and end with tears was toy story 3.
3 C decorates his classroom with Alice in Wonderlands theme, taking us to a magical world full offantasy, in our classes.
Without a doubt this year has been better about movies, movies have been wonderful and unique, each one
different. All the young people really enjoyed seeing them because almost all new movies remindedus, heroes and stuff like childhood.

BULLYIN
GBullying among schoolchildren is certainly a very
old phenomenon, though it was not until the early
1970s that it was made the object of systematic
research.
A broad definition of
bullying is when a
student is repeatedly
exposed to negative
actions on the part of
one or more other
students. These
negative actions can
take the form of
physical contact, verbal abuse, or making faces
and rude gestures. Spreading rumors and
excluding the victim from a group are also common
forms. Bullying also entails an imbalance in
strength between the bullies and the victim, what
experts call an asymmetric power relationship.
There are several common assumptions about the
causes of bullying for which there is no supporting
evidence. They include claims that bullying is a
consequence of large class or school sizes, or of
the competition for grades and other pressures that
school generates. Another common assumption is
that under a tough surface bullies, in fact, suffer
from poor self-esteem and insecurity. These views
are no more accurate than the stereotype that
students who are fat, red-haired and wear glasses
are particularly likely to become victims of bullying.
In reality, other factors are more important. Certain
personality characteristics and typical reaction
patterns, combined with the level of physical
strength or weakness in the case of boys, can help
to explain the development of bullying problems in
individual students. At the same time,
environmental influences, such as teachers
attitudes, behavior and supervisory routines play a
crucial role in determining the extent to which these
problems will manifest themselves in a classroom
or a school.
The basic message is clear: bullying is a large
problem in schools, but with a suitable intervention
programmer, it is possible to considerably reduce it.
An effective anti-bullying programmer can be
implemented relatively easily and without majorcost; it is primarily a question of changing attitudes,
knowledge, behavior and routines in school life.
IN LA SALLE
The bullying has passed its leves from elementary
school even up to high school, where we see
students being insulted or even hit by another one.
In all my years in school I have seen this
phenomenon happen and sometimes even been
part of it. And we havent stopped the problem.
WHAT TO DO IN
CASE OF
BULLYING
Talk to someone
you can trust, a
teacher, parent, older friend or relative.
Be persistent. If the first person you talk to ignores
you don't give up, speak to someone else.
If you can, write down everything the bullies have
done or have said to you, and try to write down how
you feel. When you have found someone you can
trust and who is helpful, discuss what you have
written with that person. Be very careful to only
write down things which really happen.
If you find it difficult to talk to an adult, ask one of
your friends to come with you, or ask someone to
talk to an adult on your behalf.
Most importantly, do something. Sometimes
bullying stops quickly but doing nothing means it
may continue until someone is seriously upset or
hurt. That could be you, or the bullies may find new
victims. If their behavior is not challenged they are
unlikely to stop.
Remember bullying can be stopped if we just
change a little and be better persons.

From great stories tocolorful decorations, La
Salless cultural weekcame alive.
With the purpose ofencouraging their students andstaff to increase their interestin books, for the first time in theschool's history, La SalleAcapulco had what they called
cultural week.
It was a very simple, but goodstrategy. Every day studentsspent 30 minutes of their classtime going outside of theirclassrooms to read. At the sametime, the classroom had to
reflect the same energy.
Teachers asked the students todecorate the classrooms withthe theme of their favorite book, creating a great environment toencourage reading inAcapulco...

A day in La
SallePeople always says that theschool is like your secondhome, and thats true, you
spend 6 hours a day in thereand sometimes even more, counting sports andextracurricular activities, theschool is a very important partof your life, and sometimes youfeel like the school is your life, but how is it to be at theschool?, the environment?, theclassmates?, the teachers? Wellimp here to tell you how is a realday in La Salle Acapulco, yousee the first thing you will noticeas a 6 semester student is thatyou will have a different uniformeach day, well that was just fora few weeks, we had: theMonday uniform, a yellow shirt,a white shirt, the generationshirt and a white T-shirt we useonly for a short period of time, this is not a complain and as amatter of fact it was very funny, now a days we only use fouruniforms, the t-shirt is out.
Lets talk about the classrooms,
I am part of the biggest class inthe school, and we fit verycomfortable although its almostimpossible to have a privateconversation because everyonecan hear you, almost every oneof my classmates is veryrespectful obviously with someexceptions, we tend to jokearound between us but we allknow its nothing personal orwith bad intentions, we just wantto have some fun, anotherinteresting aspect of the school
are the teachers, each one ofthem has a very uniquepersonality and the greatmajority of them are wellprepared for their job, whichthey execute in a very goodmode.
There are lots of extracurricularactivities you can do, fromchorus, music classes, andsports La Salle offers lots ofactivities from which you canchose. In general my school is reallygood, it tries to make us betterpersons via values lessons, andcompetitions, imp really gang tomiss it when I left to college.
For me a normal day in the
school starts greeting myclassmates, then my titularteacher came in and give us thenews of the day and then theclasses start some days we goto the audiovisual or the libraryand watch a movie, or we havea theory class and duringcalculus almost every day ourteacher brings some new andchallenging exercises to solve, when the classed are over I goto the cafeteria to have a goodmeal and then continue my day
with the training, after that Icome home and do myhomework, thats how I can
resume a normal day in theschool.

Health in
the school
Now a day we have no optionbut to take the maximum care ofour health, because in the
transition between childhoodand adulthood we make vitalchoices that affect our behavioras well as our health
environmental factors such asfamily, peer group, school, andcommunity characteristics alsocontribute to our health and riskbehaviors.
In our school we have apsychology department toprevent risk behavior and ofcourse a paramedic in case of
an emergency, but he is almostuseless because he isntauthorized to give any medicine,I think thats absurd, as astudent I dont want to miss anentire day of class because of ahead each I just want a pill so I
can keep going, but no, I needto bring my own medicine fromhome or just leave the school soI can go to the doctor.
Schools can build a strong
foundation to effectivelypromote physical activity and
healthy eating as well as otherhealth-enhancing behaviors.Healthy lifestyle habits, including healthy eating andphysical activity, can lower therisk of becoming obese anddeveloping related diseases aswe all know Mexico is one of the
most un healthy countries in America, lots of Childs areaffected by obesity because ofthe absence of food health and
exercise in their lives, we haveto do something to prevent this,in La Salle and every otherschool I know we are forced topractice a sport at least once a
week, this is very helpful butthere is a little problemlots ofstudents miss their classes orthey just do nothing during themso the purpose of the class ismissed, some physicaleducation teachers dont bother
trying to convince their studentto participate in the class, they just work with a few of them, ordont work at all and thats areally serious problem.
In general the schools do worryabout their students health but Ithink they can do better, we canalways do better

Neruda would say:"They may cutBut never will own springWe live between depths of poverty and prosperity. This world is profoundly marked by injustice requires a
new spirit, the spirit of Christianity, the universal message of liberation and justice, brotherly.
Educate according to the spirit of Christianity, is to educate new and redemptive attitudes.
Only a transformative education can transform the world. There is only hope if our students are embedded insociety and transforming elements.
The great test of Christianity will always be the proximity to neighbors.
The neighbor is not far, is every day at the roadside.
The neighbor is not an intruder in my life, indeed, often comes in the most inopportune.
Christianity is the spirit of openness to God and openness to others. You remember God's presence while
finding God in others.
Is generosity, spontaneity, naturalness and care in treatment. It's authenticity without ambiguity.
Is clarity and transparency. It is justice and love.
Only a new spirit can create a new world.

JUNK
FOOD
In order to promote a culture of
healthy food habits for children and
to protect children from being
overweight or obese, Mexico has asked all its
private and government schools to limit sales of
junk food.
The law does not ban sales of junk food in schools,
but it requires private and public schools to control
serving of all foods that are high in fat and sugar.
About 30 percent of
children and 70 percent
of adults in Mexico are
overweight.
Our country is No. 2 in
the world in terms of the
number of adults who are overweight and obese,
trailing only the US, and it ranks first when it comes
to overweight and obese children. More than 25
million children returned to school on Monday afterthe year-end holiday.
The Public Education
Secretariat released a list of
610 products, all of which
are high in protein and low
in fat and sugar, that can be
sold at schools. The
secretariat also posted recipes for preparing
nutritious foods on its Web site. The government
"wants to promote a culture of healthy food habits
... for children and teenagers", a spokesperson of
the secretariat said. The new regulations on junk
food are "a simulation" because "the same foods
will be available but in smaller versions"
La Salles case
Our school has
from last Easter
vacations
adopted the new
politic to eat
better. Theyremoved all junk food of the cafeterias and even
the sodas! and changed them for integral cookies
and juices. But even that junk food is prohibited in
the school the students of the High school have got
there ways of getting some candy, chips or sweets.
Im talking about Clandestine Sales, some kids
brings a lots of candies, sweets, chips, candy bars
and many other types of junk foods to the school,
and in the classroom his or her classmates just
buys whatever sweet the want. Even if these typesof sales are extrictly prohibited and punished by our
school authorities. The Clandestine Sales have
always been popular, and I really think that they will
never stop because everybody likes junk food and
candies! And well in my opinion there are more
ways to protect children and teens from becoming
obese. We just need to have more education about
nutrition and health.
Sellers wont stop and the students wont turn themin... Not even some teachers! Because I have
knowed about some of the teachers that buy the
sellers candy or bribe them to get free sweets... but
the mostly buy them too.

The lasallista career
Last semester, in November 2010 took place the famous race in competing students ofCollege La Salle, parents, friends and guests at this event. It should be noted that each section has its place of departure.
For high school students, family, friends and others the start of the race was since Bingo toPark Papagayo.
The event took place in a correct way, at the end the winners were rewarded of eachcategory. At the end of the race we made some questions to the students and this is whatthey responded.
What do you think about the College do this type of sports?Amazing, I know I have a great physical condition and is a good chance to try it.
Alejandro Salas
Do you think it is a good distance that you run in this race?Yeah, sure the distance is good, of course for me is a little part.
Yair Orbe
