Fixed Lines and Mobile Subscriptions
The number of fixed line and mobile subscriptions was 101.16 million at the end of January - March
2016, compared to 102.17 million at the end of January - March 2015.
The number of mobile subscriptions was 95.26 million at the end of January - March 2016, compared
to 95.99 million at the end of January - March 2015. The mobile subscriptions recorded 93% of total
telephone service.

Fixed Line and Mobile Penetration
Mobile penetration reached 108.33% at the end of January - March 2016, compared to 111.18% at
the end of January - March 2015, representing an annual change rate of -2.84% . On the other hand,
fixed line penetration reached about 6.81% by the end of January - March 2016.

Fixed Lines Subscription and Local Exchange Capacity
Total number of fixed line subscriptions has reached 5.90 million subscriptions at the end of January
- March 2016 compared to 6.17 million subscriptions at the end of January - March 2015.
The capacity of local exchanges increased to 17.19 million lines at the end of January - March 2016,
compared to 16.66 million at the end of January - March 2015. This represents an annual increase of
0.53 million lines and an annual growth rate of 3.19%.

International Internet Bandwidth
International Internet bandwidth increased to 829,774 Gbps at the end of January - March 2016
compared to 493,632 Gbps at the end of January - March 2015 representing an annual growth rate
of 68.10%.
The international internet bandwidth per inhabitants reached 9436.7 Bit/sec. per person at the end of
January - March 2016 compared to 5717.0 Bit/Sec. per person at the end January - March 2015 with
and annual growth rate of 65.06%.

The number of ADSL subscriptions reached 4.00 Million Subscriptions by the end of January - March
2016 compared to 3.27 Million Subscriptions at the end of January - March 2015 with an annual
change rate 22.5 %.

The number of mobile internet subscriptions reached 25.88 Million Subscriptions by the end of
January - March 2016 compared to 23.31 Million Subscriptions at the end of January - March 2015
with an annual change rate 20.80%.
The number of USB Modem subscriptions reached 3.52 Million Subscriptions by the end of January
- March 2016 compared to 4.22 Million Subscriptions at the end of January - March 2015.

Post Offices
The total number of post offices increased to 3924 at the end of January - March 2016, compared to
3904 at the end of January - March 2015, reflecting an annual growth rate of 0.51%.
The average number of people served by individual post offices was 22,408 thousand persons at the
end of January - March 2016, compared to 22,117 thousand persons at the end of January - March
2015, representing an annual growth rate of 1.32%.

million beneficiaries in January - March 2016 compared to about 5.06 million beneficiaries in January

The total Number of newly established ICT companies reached 844 companies from
April 2015 to March 2016.

CT Services Prices
The cost of ICT services is 2.07 USD for fixed lines* ,2.7 USD for mobile services **
and USD 6.39 for Internet service *** in the first quarter of 2016.
Significant decrease of about 37% is noted in the high-speed internet’s monthly
minimum tariff with the minimum cap in the latest quarter (Jan – March) 2016,
compared to (Jan – March) 2015, while price stability in mobile pre-paid calls, SMSs
and landlines tariffs was sustained during the same period.

* The price for residential fixed line is calculated as the monthly subscription charge and the cost of local calls (15 peak and 15 off-beak calls of three minutes each).
** The mobile-cellular sub-basket refers to the price of a standard basket of mobile monthly usage for 30 outgoing calls per month (on-net/off-net to a fixed line and for peak and off-peak times), plus 100 SMS messages3. It is calculated in USD. The mobile-cellular sub-basket is based on prepaid price of the most used package offered by the three mobile operators operating in Egypt.
***The fixed-broadband sub-basket refers to the lowest price of a monthly subscription to an entry-level fixed-broadband plan of the operator with the largest market share. It is calculated in USD.

ICT GDP at Fixed Prices
According to provisional data, ICT GDP in fixed prices is expected to reach 13.70 billion EGP )*( in
the third quarter of the year 2015/2016 realizing a growth rate of about 4.3% compared to the
equivalent quarter in 2014/2015, which generated 13.13 billion EGP of value.

ICT Contribution to Real GDP
ICT sector is expected to contribute by 3.1% )*( in the real GDP of the country in the third quarter
of the year 2015/2016. Thereby the sector is expected to exceed its contribution to the GDP
compared to what was achieved in the third quarter of 2014/2015, which was around 3% of the GDP.

The proportion of Universities with a fixed line reached about 100% while Proportion of Universities using the Internet reached 94.90% however Proportion of Universities with computers for education purposes reached 86.50% moreover Proportion of Universities with a laptop reached 72.01% and 51.76 was proportion of Universities with a mobile.

The proportion of Universities which use computer in students data management reached 94.20% while in employees data management reached 94% however in staff data management reached 89.50% and in others uses the proportions were between 81.60% in writing regular reports and 48.90% in communicate with students (the smallest proportion).

Activities Undertaken by Universities Using the Internet
88.4% of universities were using the internet in Sending and receiving e-mailو while using internet for access scientific journals sites reached 78.00%, however using internet in Publishing of information about Faculty / Institute tansik reached 77.3%, and using internet in other activities the proportions were between 61.5% in Training of staff / students and 15.3% in chatting (the smallest proportion).

Universities connected to the internet by mode of access
The proportion of Universities which use internet through ADSL reached 73.20% while the proportion through Egyptian Universities Network (EUN) reached 23.78% however the proportion of connecting the internet through USB reached 7.8% moreover other proportions were between 9.30% through leased line and 0.40% through dial-up.

The proportion of professors using computers at homes reached 98.2% while at college / institute reached 91.8% however the proportion reached 20.8% in public libraries, and using internet in other places the proportion were between 15.2 % between relatives, friends and neighbors.

The ICT impact on college / institute administration was 93.8% in carrying out administrative work quickly, while ability to planning and monitoring reached 70.1%, however decision-making based on information reached 58.9%, moreover the proportion of there is no change (there is no ICT impact on college/institute administration) reached 1.2%.

The total number of graduates from the International Computer Driving License (ICDL) program
reached 22178 graduates by the end of January - March 2016.
The number of graduates to receive software training till March 2016: 19.4 Thousands graduates.
