We are excited to announce our 2017 special guest, former Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, Mr. Newt Gingrich.

We are experiencing a historic time in our Nation’s Capitol and I believe Speaker Gingrich will be able to shine a very unique and interesting light on the inner workings of the new administration.

Also, for those AOGC members who would like a more intimate briefing, a round table of sorts, we will offer table sponsorships for $2500.00, which will allow for two people from the table to attend a smaller discussion with the Speaker prior to our dinner.

As always, we strive to bring you speakers that are interesting and unique. I look forward to hosting this historic political figure later in the year.

We do have several other fun things planned for the rest of the year as well. Be watching out for our annual clay shoot, as well as a new and improved fall golf tournament at Shangri La!

We work hard to develop programs that will give you a chance to network with your colleagues, as well as provide a fun and friendly environment.

Watch your email for announcements on the events listed above as well as our membership lunches AND division dinners!

Thanks- Be safe!

Sincerely,

Bobby Stem Executive Director

PRESSRELEASE

Oklahoma City, OK, February 8, 2017 – John Deere Construction and Forestry Division has named CL

Boyd as a 2016 winner of its Onyx Circle award. The award recognizes CL Boyd as one of Deere's

three top-performing dealers in North America.

“Over the last year, CL Boyd has been able to produce outstanding results and we feel that

deserves recognition,” said Domenic Ruccolo, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for John

Deere’s Worldwide Construction & Forestry Division. “We congratulate them for their hard work and

success, and more importantly, we thank them for being invaluable partners for John Deere.”

“It is an honor to be recognized for the hard work our entire team put in last year. I am proud of

each and every employee in our company for always keeping our customers first,” added Jim Meisner,

CL Boyd’s Executive Vice President.

The Onyx Circle award was developed by John Deere as a way to recognize and reward

outstanding achievement by its dealers. This is CL Boyd’s third Onyx Circle award in the five years

the program has been in place.

CL Boyd has been in business since 1913 and currently operates retail stores in Oklahoma City,

Ardmore and Lawton.

WITH SPECIAL GUESTNEWT GINGRICHNewt Gingrich is well-known as the architect of the “Contract with America” that led the Republican Party to victory in 1994 by capturing the majority in the U.S. House of Representatives for the first time in forty years. After he was elected Speaker, he disrupted the status quo by moving power out of Washington and back to the American people. Under his leadership, Congress passed welfare reform, the first balanced budget in a generation, and the first tax cut in sixteen years. In addition, the Congress restored funding to strengthen defense and intelligence capabilities, an action later lauded by the bipartisan 9/11 Commission. Today Newt Gingrich is a Fox News contributor. He is a Senior Advisor at Dentons, the world’s largest law firm with more than 6,500 lawyers in 50 countries and offices in more than 125 cities. He advises the firm’s world- class Public Policy and Regula-tion practice. He is also a Senior Scientist at Gallup. From May 2011 to May 2012, Newt Gingrich was a candidate for the Republican nomination for President of the United States, winning the South Carolina and the Georgia primaries. The campaign was especially notable for its innovative policy agenda, its effort to bring new coalitions into the Republican fold, and for Newt’s debate performances. His $2.50 a gallon energy plan set off a nationwide discussion about the use of America’s energy resources. However, there is a lot more to Newt Gingrich than these remarkable achievements. As an author, Newt has published twenty-seven books including 14 fiction and nonfiction New York Times best-sellers. Newt and his wife, Callista, host and produce historical and public policy documentaries. Because of his own unquenchable thirst for knowledge, Newt has become one of the most highly sought-after public speakers, accepting invitations to speak before prestigious organizations throughout the world. Widely recognized for his commitment to a better system of health for all Americans, his leadership in the U.S. Congress helped save Medicare from bankruptcy, prompted FDA reform to help the seriously ill and initiated a new focus on research, prevention, and wellness. The American Diabetes Association awarded him the high-est non-medical award and the March of Dimes named him Citizen of the Year in 1995. To foster a modern health system that provides better outcomes at lower cost, Newt launched the Center for Health Transformation in 2003, and continued there in a leadership role until he stepped down in 2011 to seek the Republican nomination for President of the United States. Recognized internationally as an expert on world history, military issues, and international affairs, Newt served as a Member of the Defense Policy Board. He was the longest-serving teacher of the Joint War Fighting course for Major Generals. He also taught officers from all five services as a Distinguished Visiting Scholar and Professor at the National Defense University. Newt was a member of the Ter-rorism Task Force for the Council on Foreign Relations. In 2005, Newt co-chaired the Task Force on U.N. Reform, a bi-partisan Congressio-nal effort to reform the United Nations. His experiences as the son of a career soldier convinced him at an early age to dedicate his life to his country and to the protection of freedom. Realizing the importance of understanding the past in or-der to protect the future, he immersed himself in the study of history, receiving his Bachelor’s degree from Emory University and Master’s and Doctorate in Modern European History from Tulane University. Before his election to Congress, he taught History and Environmental Studies at West Georgia College for eight years.

The AOGC sponsored a job fair with the Oklahoma National Guard 120th Engineering Battalion on Saturday, February 4th. In Broken Arrow, 1st Sgt. Curtis introduced Bob Stem to the men and women who serve in the National Guard. Bob briefly addressed the group about the solid job opportunities in the road and bridge build-ing industry. Guard members then had time to meet with members at their booths to discuss the opportuni-ties their companies have to offer. The AOGC is humbled to be able to help the hard working men and women who protect our country meet the hard working men and women in our industry. Look for more chances for your company to be involved with National Guard in the future. If you would like to get on the Workforce email list to hear about such opportunities, email Courtney Jones at [email protected].

Lisa Lucas and Kristen Casitllo discuss the benefits of working for Manhattan Road & BridgeAdvanced Workzone Services’ Brian Fletcher and Josh Jernigan ready to meet National Guard members.

Rick Gottschalk of Duit Construction talks to soldiers about employment. Bobby Stem chats with Carl Carlson and Vicki West Becco Contractors
