When you were a kid, what was your favorite thing to do?Sitting in the window seat under the gabled roof, watching people go by.

What did you most dislike doing when you were a child?Getting dressed to go outside in the wintertime.

What did you want to be when you grew up?Because I was tall and gangly, I thought I could be a model.

What was your favorite book as a child?I loved the fairy tale of Cinderella.

What is your favorite pastime now?Scrapbooking.

Long before Oscar Peterson became a virtuoso jazz pianist, he was a boy who loved to play the trumpet. When a bout of childhood tuberculosis weakened his lungs, Oscar could no longer play his beloved instrument. He took up piano and the rest is history. Oscar Lives Next Door is a story inspired by this musician’s childhood, set in his Montreal neighborhood of Little Burgundy.
