Head south along the
nearest stretch of
pavement
on the main
street,
keeping low to avoid the
PMC soldier
in
the distance,
then take the first
right.
You're
safe to stand up
for the time being
once
you
enter this side street,
and
through the
market area
beyond
it-
even
if
you're
not
allied
with the militia army,
the
soldiers
here won't react negatively to
your
presence.

soldiers occupy

leit-hand

of the street;
PMC troops return

pavement,
then
through the smallgap
underneath
the
building ahead.
When
you
exit,
move
back
onto
the
pavement.
You're
now
sufficiently close to disable the
nearest marksman
in the building
ahead
wtth
a
silenced
weapon,
but
it's not
strictly
necessary to do so.
Move forward
untilyou
reach
the boxes,
then
around
to the
left,
but
pause
for a
moment
-
often,
the
car
ahead
will
explode
as it is
hit
by stray bullets.
Wait for the flames
to die down
should that
happen, then follow the
pavement
to the
end.
From here,
it's a short
(but
dangerous)
crawl
through
the bomb crater
to
reach
the
next
area.

are
PMC
forces to the right, and militia to the

battte

in Advent
Palace, so don't
worry
about

noise
you
create.
However, there are
several traps
positioned
throughout
the buildlng,
and some are
pretty
cunningly
placed.
As
primed
explosives
aren t
highlighted by
the
Solid
Eye,
you
should be especially
vigilant. You may
even
prefer
to activate
Night Vision
mode, which
makes
the devices
clearly visible.
You
can safely collect
primed
explosives
of allvarieties
by either defusing them
with
Metal
Gear
Mk. ll,
or
by crawling
over them.
Any
traps
dealt with
in
this
manner are
automatically added
to
Snake's
inventory.
(Note
that
the
infrared
beam
trap
located
in
one corridor
cannot
be
disarmed;disregard
this completely
for
now
)
Your
objective
point
is
on
4F and, though some
routes are blocked, it's really
not
hard
to
get
there
-
use the staircase
at
the
north-east end of the building to
reach
3F, then
head
for the stairs
in the south-east
corner to
reach
4F.

head into the bar and collect
everything
you
want; to trigger the next cutscene,
enter
the corridor
beyond. 0h, and
ready
a few
suitable
weapons
beforehand...

headshots work
best;
players
aiming

no-kill
playthrough

you
prefer,
a
prone position
to the side of
it)
aim
for headshots
until
you
defeat
the initial
attack wave. Follow
Rat
Patrol
downstairs
when the coast is clear.

of assailants
to attack
from
the opposite
balcony
when
you
reach
3F.
When
Rat Patrol
move
into the diner area,
be
careful
not
to
get
left
behind

party
will now
be
attacked
from both sides

the
area
you
just

kitchen
area ahead.
To best
protect
your
companions,
it

sensible
to first
neutralize the
Haven
Troopers
attacking
from the
rear,
then
follow
your
associates
through the
restaurant area.

you
have
a clear shot,

Meryl

of clearing

prove problematic.
Stay
low
and disable
a
few
on
the upper levelfirst,
then
deal
with
those
on
your
level when there's

The trick,
we found, is to concentrate on
one
area in
particular.

Haven Troopers

the
elevator shaft
if
you
defend the
rear,
which can
be
an unpleasant shock
if
you
don't expect
it.
Check the immediate
area for
survivors
then
follow
Rat
Patrolthrough
the hole in the toilet wall.0nce
Johnny disables
the infrared
beams,
roll
over
the
gap

the
floor to reach a secret cache
of
items,
including
a
GP30
grenade
launcher add-on
for the AK102.
When
you're
ready,
drop down
to
continue
the
fight.

easler
to operate
from one of the
two
rooms,
firrng through
the doorway
rather than
struggling
to
pick
shots
from an awkward
crouching
position

though be careful
not to
hit
your
allies
as they
move back
and
forth.
When the
last
Haven
Trooper
falls,
grant yourself
the
luxury
of
a big
sigh of
relief.
Drop down
into the
basement
via
the
lift
shaft,
collect
the
items down
there
and
head
un
the rubble

epoch
to explore

collectibles

can
actually
crawl
through the
air duct
to ambush

Haven Troopers
on 3F during

battle to escape,

something

players

two
potential
exits
to
this
area, 0ne
of these,
a
ladder
(pictured
here) leading
to
a
balcony,
is
available
at
any
time
(though
guarded).
To
destroy
the barricade and
open the
second
route,
you'll
need
t0
escort the
tank safely along
the street.
Though
disabling
PMC
troops
on
the street
assists
the militia
forces,
you
should
be
watchful for
soldiers appearing
in
nearby buildings
with tank-busting
weaponry.
Crescent
Meridian
is
a small
area,
and the site
of
a
ferocious
battle. Wtth
both
factions firing from
cover
0n opposite
sides of the
street, there
seems to
be
little chance of slipping through
unnoticed,
but
that's
n0t
actually
the case.

the militia
forces
move
theirtank
into the

the first cutscene

head through

right again
when
you
reach
the corner and.

creeping

your
left, crawl
through the
gap

building.

a

you

The
situation
is
very
simple:
PMC soldiers
are stationed
on
the leftside of
the
street,
with
militia forces
mountrng their assault
from the
right.
Your task
is to
creep alongside
the
militia. sticking as
close
to the buildings on that
side
as
possible.
This
can sometimes
be
a little awkward
as
you
ll
discover when
you
reach the dumpster
positioned
just
off the
pavementahead.
Militia
soldlers
will
usually take cover
behind
it. which
means that
you
need to
go
around
the
front
of the container
instead. This
might seem
like
a
risk. but
rest
assured
-
the
PMC
soldiers
have
more
pressing
c0ncerns
to attend
to.
For
the
restof this
journey.
you
simply
need
to dodge
the
trampling feet
of
militia
soldiers until
you
reach
a
burned-out
car
just
before the
road
block
at the end of
the
street. As long
as
you
don'tget
careless.

journey

ladder
on
the opposite

careful
when

arrive
at
the foot of the
ladder, turn the
