Facility Improvements
A new entrance sign greets visitors to Minidoka. NHS
Seven wayside exhibit signs were installed along the walking trail – the remaining ones
will be installed this spring.

Block 22 Comes Alive
The return of a historic mess hall and barrack building to the site were the first steps in re-creating Block 22.
A historic Barrack Building was moved in two sections and placed on the concrete pilings.
The Mess Hall was moved from the Jerome County Fairgrounds in three sections.

Interpretation/Education Programs
Long Range Interpretive Plan workshops were held in Idaho, Seattle, and Bainbridge Island.
Staff and a helpful visitor prepared an exhibit for a special group tour.
A park ranger provides historic context before starting a tour of Minidoka at the entrance area.
The Minidoka exhibit at Hagerman Fossil Beds NM Visitor Center introduces visitors to the Minidoka story.
Reestablishment of the Honor Roll
Minidoka Annual Pilgrimage
Dedication of the Honor Roll on July 4, 2011 was an emotional experience for veterans and their families.
Installation of the Honor Roll took place in June, 2011.
Bainbridge Island Unit: Nidoto Nai Yoni Memorial
Dedication of the Nidoto Nai Yoni Memorial with its interpretive panels and family and individual name plaques
took place on August 6, 2011
The Memorial is on an eight acre parcel on Bainbridge Island, Washington. It
commemorates the pathway taken by Bainbridge Islanders who were forced to
leave their homes on March 30, 1942.

2012 Projects
Completion of the Museum Storage Building
The Museum Building provides space and a controlled environment for the expanding collections at both
Hagerman Fossil Beds NM and Minidoka NHS.
Adjustable shelving units provide space for large furniture artifacts.
Open shelving units will house the Minidoka archival collections including
documents and photographs.
Construction of Barbed Wire Fence
Minidoka Junior Ranger Program
A portion of the historic barbed wire fence was re-created along the North Side Canal.
The park launched phase 1 of the Minidoka NHS Junior Ranger Program in
2011. Additional funding in 2012 will help the park expand the program.
