Pastured chicken

"JidoriSumibiyaki" (char-grilled locally grown chicken) is the taste of Miyazaki. Among types of "JidoriSumibiyaki," Miyazaki JitokkoSumibiyaki (a char-grilled local chicken called "Jitokko") is particularly delicious, as the true taste of chicken and the refreshing aroma of the roasting spread after a soft crunch.

The "Kaisen-don" (seafood over rice) meal and the "Nichinan Specialty Fish Noodles (gyoudon)" (wheat noodles made with minced flying fish) meal are popular. There are also direct sales stores.

Festival of Miyazaki Shrine This festival is affectionately known as "Jinmu-sama." Shinshin processions and mikoshi (palanquin) processions, which resemble scenes depicted in historical "emaki" (illustrated narrative hand scrolls), move down the street from Miyazaki Shrine to downtown Miyazaki. The "Shanshan Uma," in which a bride parades down the street on a decorated horse, is also a highlight of the parade. At night, Tachibana-dori (a main street in Miyazaki) is turned into a pedestrian zone and becomes crowded with people, who are there to enjoy events on stage and other activities.
