The Texas Tech University Alumni Association and Military & Veterans Programs is excited to present our new Military & Veterans Alumni Chapter!
Texas Tech has a proud tradition as a military and veteran supportive campus where we do all we can to honor the men and women who preserve our freedom. Military and Veterans Programs at Texas Tech has gained national recognition for providing a campus-wide support system for those who have served. This new chapter will encourage an ongoing Red Raider connection for our graduates as they go on to future success.
Purpose:
The purpose of the Military & Veterans Alumni Chapter is to recognize our mili-tary and veteran graduates and connect them to current students and their uni-versity in a meaningful way. Our Military and Veterans Chapter will provide the following opportunities:
1. Enhance contact between the university and its military and veteran alumni.
2. Assist with the recruitment, retention and graduation of military and veteran students.
3. Recognize Texas Tech military and veteran contributions to our community and the nation.
4. Provide scholarship and support activities for current military and veteran students.
5. Assist military and veteran student transitions from campus to career through mentoring, internships and employment opportunities.
Membership:
The Military and Veterans Alumni Chapter is open to military, veterans, family members and anyone who as a interest in supporting our military service mem-bers and veteran students and graduates. Your membership in the chapter also will connect you as a member of the broader Alumni Association.
Tournament for Heroes Veteran Scholarship Fundraiser

MVP recently held it’s 3rd Annual Tournament for Heroes which is a four person
best ball scramble to raise funds for the creation of scholarships for veterans and
their dependents at Texas Tech University.
Title, Hole, Tee Box sponsorships are available donations are already available
for the 4th Annual Tournament for Heroes to be held on June 2, 2017.

Free tutoring for military: Active, Guard, Reserve Did you know that active duty and part-time/traditional drilling U.S. service members in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and Coast Guard are eligible to receive one-to-one tutoring 24/7 at no cost through www.Tutor.com/military?
The program, funded by the Department of Defense (DoD) and Coast Guard Mutual Assistance (CMGA), currently pro-vides active duty, National Guard and Reserve service members with expert, on-demand academic support 24/7 through www.Tutor.com/military.
Eligible service members worldwide can access the online service from any internet-enabled device for real-time help in more than 40 college subjects plus standardized test prep. Students and tutors work one-to-one in a secure online classroom; no webcams or telephones are used. In addition to getting tutoring and homework help on-demand, stu-dents can also choose to schedule future online tutoring sessions and submit papers for offline tutor review. The Archive of Modern American Warfare at Texas Tech University collects rec-
ords that document American military conflicts during the period 1975 to the pre-
sent, with a concentration on Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm, the
September 11th attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, the Global
War on Terrorism, Operations Provide Relief and Restore Hope, the Kosovo War,
Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.
If you are a military veteran and you are interested in donating your material to

Interviews for Military to College Transition Study
"Looking for college students who have prior military experience to participate in a study about the
transition process from military to college. This study is completely voluntary. Due to the topic of this
research, volunteers must have prior military service before making the decision to attend college;
however, there are no other limitations required for participation in this study. You will be asked to
answer interview questions in regards to your feelings, experiences, stories, etc. Each participant is
asked to set aside 25-30 minutes of their time for the interview. All participants will be put into a draw-
ing for a $50 Visa gift card.

GWOT Veteran Deployment/Reintegration Experiences
Research Study Participation Request
You are invited to participate in a research study to further discover the experiences of veter-
ans deployed to the Global War on Terror (GWOT) from 2001-2014 to better understand the
impacts of combat on veterans’ life and health. Your participation is voluntary and you may
withdraw from the study at any time without penalty.
You will be asked to complete a survey which will take approximately 20-30 minutes. The
survey will ask questions about your experiences in combat and how it has affected your life
and health. Although you will not directly receive many benefits from participating in this
study, your participation can make a major contribution to the information known about com-
bat veterans. Your indirect benefit could assist in any health care that you receive.

host a BootCamp for incoming Veteran or Service Members.
BPI will offer high performance brain training program known as Strategic Memory Ad-
vance Reasoning Training or SMART. You will learn strategies to revive your everyday rou-
tine and boost your brain power. Sessions are interactive with exercises that encourage dis-
cussion, creative thinking, and practical application. There will also be other training
presentations from a variety of TTU departments as well as a free breakfast and lunch each
day! Only 50 seats are available!

The Center for the Study of Addiction and Recovery at Texas Tech Univer-
sity has worked diligently to design a Collegiate Recovery Community
