Task 3: Circumpolar Health ObservatoryTask Co-Leaders: Susan Chatworth, Institute of Circumpolar Health Research and Kue Young, University of Toronto
- Tremendous progress; now fully functional and interactive- All data to 2004 are up-to-date; with several modules updated to 2009- Several data briefs have been published in the International Journal of Circumpolar Health- Conference: Circumpolar Health Metrics: Statistics in support of Health Systems Improvement, October 2011; discussion how different data systems could be used to inform policy makers- Book release at IPY Conference, April 2012 - Great example of science informing policy / decision makersSee www.circhob.circumpolarhealth.org for the Health Observatory
Update on Canadian SAON Tasks
Task 4: Role of Remote Sensing in Arctic MonitoringTask Leader: Yves Crevier, Canadian Space Agency
- Continues to be good interest in this Task - Has merit as a Task, as Remote Sensing continues to represent a key source of observational data for the Arctic - Need to ensure linkages with WMO work – Polar Space Task Group- Need to consider how to move this Task forward – discussions with engaged partners
Update on Canadian SAON Tasks
Task 5: The Canadian IPY Data Assembly Centre Network: A Case StudyTask Leader: Scott Tomlinson, Aboriginal and Northern Affairs Canada
